~Pein~

The Akatsuki began their battle versus Danzo and the Anbu Black Ops. Deidara and Tobi flew among the skies, dropping clay bombs onto the upcoming shinobi coming from the Hidden Leaf.

Danzo arose from the ground. "You . . . have . . . made . . . the wrong choice, Pein. Now you shall regret it."

"You have made the wrong choice," Pein hissed, and raised his right arm. "Universal Pull."

"Hold it right there, Pein!" a different voice yelled out. But it was already to late for that person. Pein's hand was already around Danzo's neck, suffocating the Elder. Danzo's eyes glared at Pein heavily. "Kill the Elder, and your partner shall die in flames!"

Pein turned his head to the source of the voice. It was the Fifth Hokage. "Tsunade-sama. Long time no see." He then saw Konan, fallen at her feet. Sarutobi Asuma holding his lighter, a smirk on his face. "What are you exactly planning to do with that?" He felt his heart drop.

Konan nodded at him slightly, pain subsided from her expression. She was pretending to be hurt. Asuma sneered at Pein, "If you kill that Elder, you will pay the causes you have done to us before. And that will be death. You owe me my life."

"Correction, Hidan owes you your life. Although, the Akatsuki wants peace and all of you give us  is war. We have captured the Jinchuriki and there are only two left. And that is Uzamaki Naruto . . . and Killer B." Pein's grip tightened, and Danzo sputtered. "However, we are not targeting them. We are targeting the ones who are deemed to kill us."

Tsunade stepped on Konan's hand, Konan winced and scowled up at Tsunade. "That will be about everyone, you have brought shame to this country, Pein. You have brought all the problems here since you and the Akatsuki have first stepped foot into the Konoha. You and your organization."

"My organization has helped greatly to you and all the other villages. You have realized something new about your comrades. But your people add the conflicts, bringing us in negatively. We only want peace, you brought war. That is all I need to say right now. Let go of Konan, and I will not kill him." Pein glared at Tsunade. He could remember the first time seeing her. Harsh words to push Konan, Yahiko, and him (Nagato) away. "Jiraiya-sensei would want the war to be over. Even if I have wounded him, I still have respect for him."

"Those are lies!" Tsunade growled at him. "Jiraiiya is in a coma, because of you! You are criminals not peace makers. There are differences between those two. Pein, it's either choose one or the other. You----"

"KATSU!" shouted a voice from above. Pein threw Danzo to the side, and quickly grabbed for Konan. He got her in her arms just in time as the bomb hit the ground and blew Tsunade and Asuma back. "Leader, Konan, you both alright, un?!"

Konan looked at Pein in the eyes, "Are we alright?"

Pein nodded and set her on her feet. She blushed, and glanced up at Deidara. "We're fine," Pein grumbled. "There are shinobi coming from the Hidden Sand and Leaf. We must continue with the plan."

Pein turned to see his other five paths. They all looked back at him, and nodded, remembering the plan. He walked towards Danzo, who was lying almost motionless on the ground. The old man coughed out blood, "You . . . will not win this war."

"This is not a war," Pein replied. "You asked us to choose. We have decided, and this is how we present our answer. You are the one who threatened to kill us, and we do not take threats as a joke."

Danzo gasped, Pein knew his five paths have gone out to kill the shinobi that dared to interfere. But he could still sense Konan behind him. "You. Pein, of all people should know that this isn't how life was supposed to be. You could have gone through it differently."

"The past is the past," Pein turned to look at Konan. "Go assist Tobi. He needs the assistance."

Konan nodded and used the Dance of Shikigami. Pein turned back at Danzo, who was coughing up more blood. "The past is the past? The past is what makes the present and future."

"You have that all wrong," Pein's metal rod shot out of his sleeve. He set the tip of it on Danzo's chest, where his heart was still beating. "The past is what makes the present, and the present is what determines the future."

Danzo screamed out after Pein's rod had struck him in the heart and ended his life.
