There I was pacing in a 5 star hotel room in Berlin, Germany. I knew what I signed up for when I moved in with my uncle; bad dudes wanting to kill him or me, a ton of sarcasm and shawarma. Fighting A-list superheros was not one of them.
After half an hour, I laid flat on the king sized bed and I stared blankly at a wall. Maybe it was the sheer panic I was feeling that made me zone out for a couple of minutes.
I heard my door being unlocked by a key card and a long pause accompanied me. I quickly put on my right hand glove as I moved closer to the door. The door opened slowly to unveil Tony on his phone. He raised both of his arms in the air in surrender.
"I know I lied about having the jet under maintenance but we can negotiate to make peace." I lowered my hand as I exhaled all of the breath I had kept in.
"Sorry," I said as I removed the glove off of my hand.
"No need to apologize 'livia, just here to give you some words of encouragement," he said after he lowered his hands. He walked into my giant hotel room and he looked at the gadgets I had on the desk. He inspected a small pellet that I was meant to put in one of my gloves.
"Be careful with that. It turns into foam, expands by 600% and then it hardens like concrete very quickly when thrown," I said walking next to him.
"Where do you get this stuff?" he said still inspecting the pellet.
"I bought the materials from the hardware store, I enhanced it and I turned it into pellets."
He put it back where it was originally and he turned to face me.
"Olivia, don't screw up," he said looking straight into my eyes, completely serious.
"Wow, you're words of encouragement are very encouraging" I said sarcastically.
"This is very important. If we lose this fight, a lot can be at stake," he said.
"Yeah, don't worry. I'm sure we'll win," I said, crossing my arms trying to look intimidating.
"Ok, but that pose will definitely will not make us win," he said, mocking my pose.
"Psh.. I have no idea what you're talking about," I said, my arms still crossed. He rolled his eyes playfully and left my hotel room without another word. I sighed and I returned to the huge bed. Minutes later, I dozed off into slumber.
---
I woke up with a series of hurried knocks on my hotel room door.
"We're leaving soon, suit up," said Happy on the other side of the door. I quickly rose up from my bed and I started to get ready. I wore a pair of stretchy black pants and a grey t-shirt.
"Damn, I need a cooler looking outfit," I mumbled to myself.
I brushed my hair and I pulled it up into a high ponytail. I put on both gloves, my converse shoes and the goggles.
As I exited the door into the hallway and I saw a familiar hero.He was Spider-man and he was wearing the suit I worked on.
"So, you're the guy Tony recruited?" I asked him as I closed the door behind me.
"Yeah, I'm Spiderman," he replied proudly.
"I know, I embellished your new suit," I also said proudly.
"Nice meeting you.."
"Uh.. call me Miss Iron."
"Miss Iron?" he asked, tilting his head slightly.
"The name's a work in progress," I said, "I used to be called 'The Masked Hero' but it's weird to call myself that."
Happy walked out of his room and he led us to the elevator.
