Chapter 10:Jessica

I took a chance by kissing him. Ben defiantly didn't disappoint. He responded to the kiss almost immediately. He placed his hands on my hips and pushed me closer. Having my body pressed against his chest. The kiss last only a minute, but one amazing minute. I have never kissed someone. I always had Egor force himself on me. So this was all new for me. 

Remembering that we were in the room with a sleep Nala, I took a step back but my hands still laid on top of his toned, yummy, chest. "Its getting late. I should probably get some sleep since Nala likes to wake up early" I mumble. A smile forms on Ben's face as he gazes over to Nala. With a nod he leans forward and kiss my cheek. "Goodnight Jess" he said quietly then leaves the room.

Now I am laying in bed unable to sleep. Replaying that I actually kissed him. Being on the compound for my whole life, I never have done anything like that. When it came to getting attention from men, in the compound, that was the worst thing to get. 

Everyone always told me how stubborn and I had an angry side to me, but only came out when I was trying to protect the other women and children. Between Mae and me, when one of us was in trouble the other would try to save the other. I still can't believe after getting free Mae was the one to die. She was so close to going home, like she dreamed. At least all the children made it. 

Realizing that I wasn't getting sleep anytime soon, I get up and walk down stairs to the kitchen. When I enter, I yelp seeing Ben sitting at the bar counter going through paper work. Ben looks up at the sound. "Sorry" he says placing the paper in his hands down. "No, its not your fault. Just didnt think you were still up" I mumble. He gives a nod in understanding then gives his attention back to the papers.

I walk over to the fridge and get a bottle water out. After taking a drink I lean my hip on the kitchen counter facing Ben. "What are you doing" I ask him curiously. Without looking up he explains, "I am going over the inventory that my work hand did, so I can order what is needed."

"For the stables" I ask. He nods, "Yeah, also I am purchasing a few more horses and cattle." I stand up excited at the mention of horse, "really? What are the horses for?" He looks up and leans back in the chair. "I have a stallion, a mare, and two geldings that I am plan to buy. The mare happens to be pregnant and the owner can no longer care for her. The stallion, I bought off a friend. They are a having issues training him. Geldings will be used for riding."

"Wow. You have a lot going on. What happens when you leave for months at a time" I ask. "I hire another hand to help my lead hand" he says. I nod, "Oh." I tank another drink of water then stand to go back upstairs, but stop at Ben calling my name. 

Turning around I raise my brow curiously. "I got you paper work today" he says rubbing the back of his neck. "Oh. Does that mean that we have to find a place now" I ask. He stands up and walks over to me. "Not if you don't want to you" he says with a straight face.  I open my mouth to say something, but he cuts me off adding, "I would really like for you and Nala to stay though." 

I smile hearing his words. "I would really like for us to stay too" I go on my tippy toes and kiss his cheek. With that I walk out leaving Ben standing in the kitchen.

Heading back in my room, I lay in bed. We get to stay. After Nala getting so close to Ben and Rachael, I was nervous having her leave the people she is comfortable with. I know it wouldnt be the last we see of them, but I couldn't imagine leaving. His house feels like our home after only a weeks. 

Snuggling into the blankets, I fall asleep happy how the day has turned out.
