Chapter 17: Benjamin

"Hello?" 

"Ben. Bar now" I hear Grant say.

"Do you know why?" 

"Matt called it."

"Rachael isn't here yet, I have Nala."

"Bring her. We have the back room" he answers then hangs up.

Dammit. Worse timing. I quickly make a note for Jessica saying Nala and I will be back shortly. I pick her up from the living room floor and carry her to the car. Once buckled I walk around the the car and get into the drivers side. After a ten minute drive i make it the bar but park in the back. I unbuckle Nala and grab a toy and sippy cup for her. Walking into the back door I walk to the door of the private room. I open it and am shocked to see Jessica seated on the couch. "What the hell" I grit out. Jessica's head snaps to me and then notices Nala. She looks hesitant to come get her from me. She stays seated and fidgets in her seat. 

"Ben" I turn to see Matt, Jacob, Trey, and Grant on sitting at the table.  I walk to Jessica and set Nala in her lap, hoping she would look up at me, but she doesn't by hiding her face with her hair. Placing the sippy and toy next to Jessica, I walk away from the girls and to the table. "What the fuck is going on" I snap. None of them looked to surprised to see me angry.

Matt is the first to speak up. "Sit down. We need to talk to you." I was about to decline, but I hear Jessica behind me. "Mattie, take Nala. I should tell him." Mattie just nods walks over to Nala, picks her up, "guys lets go." They all silently stand up and leave the room. 

"Jessica what the hell is going on" I ask irritated. She looks up and the hair that has been covering her face falls back. All i see is red as I take a step forward. Jessica instantly takes a step back. Her cheek is red with some bruising starting to show and her eyes were red from crying.

"Why arent you with Rachael" I ask. "I never got picked up by Rachael. I texted Mattie too" she answers quietly. "Why?" I take another step towards her. She hesitates to take another step back, but decides against it. "I ahh I panicked." Thats when it hit me. Something happened at work and she panicked. "Kevin?" Her eyes go wide and are filled with fear at the mention of his name. I take another step forward and now I am only inches away. I clench my fists.

"I can ex-explain B-Ben, but I need you to not interrupt me otherwise I-I will never get it out" she says as tears continue to fall. I nod and we both sit down on the couch. She sits down with her legs pulled to her chest and arms wrapped around them.

"He called me to his office. He said that I got the condo and I could go home and start moving. I though he was finished but he wasnt." She looks at me with tears in her eyes. She looked like she was trying so hard to fight them from falling. I reached out and took he hand in mine and gave her a nod to continue. "H-He said you couldn't enter the condo building. He said he didn't want you anywhere near it." Im shocked that Kevin would go so far as to keep me from his buildings, even her condo. Well I guess I shouldnt be to shocked. 

"I said no" she mumbled, but I caught every word. "I told him if that was a restriction, I told him I quit." She isn't looking at me, but past my head. "I went to leave but he stopped me. He knows them Ben. They know where I am." The dam breaks and her tears fall one right after another.

"What? Them?" I ask. "Egor's family and men Ben" she yells. "He said now he knew why they didnt use me as a whore like the other women because I am to feisty" she says between her cries. What the fuck! There is no way that they found her! They couldn't could they! I will kill him! I lean forward kiss Jessica's forehead, "They won't get you. I promise." Standing up I walk out of the room, slamming the door on my way out.

I head down the hall to another room used as another private party room. I open it to see the men and Nala. "Go give Nala to Jessica now" I demand to Matt. He stands up with her walks out. "I'm assuming you all know" I ask. They all nod. "Jacob go find out who he has been talking to. Grant I want eyes on him now. Trey I need you to report to Callahan." 

They all stand up and depart as Matt walks back in. Once the men assigned leave I turn to Matt. "Why did she call you" I ask him. "Trust me it was in your favor" he says reassuringly. "You will move into my house until this is taken care of" I tell him. "As much as I want to help, nights I need to be with Belle" he says apologetically. "Bring her" I state. He nods and leaves the room.

I take a few minutes to myself pacing around. After composing myself I head back to the room that Jessica and Nala are in. Walking in I see Jessica walking around rocking Nala in her arms while she sleeps. "Let's go home" I say quietly. She nods and then gestures to the sippie and toy on the couch. I nod and pick them up for her. We head out back to the car and get the sleeping Nala buckled in. 

After a few minutes of driving in silence I spoke up. "Why did you call Matt?" She is looking out the passenger window, "instead of calling you?" I nod, "Yeah." She sighed and then looked at me, "I was ashamed at about what Kevin said. I may not have been a whore to many but I was pretty much Egor's whore. I didn't think you deserved to have to deal with my past. You already saved me once" she says softly. 

"You are not a whore" I said through gritted teeth. "Never think of yourself like that. A whore chooses that life. You didn't choose that life. You were kidnapped Jessica. You and Nala are so important to me and whether you wanted it or not, I will be involved. If I need to rescue over and over again, I will. And that is a promise" I tell her. She looks at me as though she is in aw. A smile slowly spreads on her face, "I guess I got my own night in shinning...umm camo." 

I chuckle at her response, "I guess you do."
