The gates swung open and I dashed through the courtyard. I pushed open the huge doors that met me when I got to the front of my house. Nathalie had unlocked them with her tablet. Everything felt different. The air was thin and my lungs couldn't seem to eat enough of it. Still, I kept going, venturing into the house that I had lived in my entire life.
Where is father?
Where is father?
Where is father?
I forced myself to think of finding him and nothing else. At first, I didn't react to the shattered vases that littered the floor. Stepping over the pieces of ceramic, I couldn't help but wonder why he would break them. If it was father that did it in the first place, of course. It didn't make sense- Mom was the one who chose the vases and all of the decorations for the house, so why would he go about wrecking things? He always said that he treasures what he has left...
As I checked the dining room and was slowly making my way up the staircase to look upstairs, I chided myself for thinking of him as Father. If I'm being the hero- I looked down at my black suit- Than he is nothing more than a villain to fight.
When I finally faced him, I knew I couldn't be seeing my father. It turned out to be easier than I thought, because when he silently stepped out from nowhere and grabbed my wrists, I didn't see my father. All I saw was evil.

"Tell me, Adrien, why you've been betraying me all this time? All I wanted to do was to keep my precious son safe from danger." He held tight on my wrist for a second, then swung it forward, letting go. It threw me across the room, and I landed on my arm. "I've been keeping Paris safe from YOU! If you hadn't started terrorizing the city by letting people get revenge, unjustly at that! How are you supposed to defend yourself against someone with magical powers? You started it, and now I'm ending it. YOU'RE the reason, Hawkmoth. I'm ashamed to call you my father." Words had just flooded out, and it didn't really sound like Adrien- like me- at all. The only thing was? Everything I said was true. His sneering voice interrupted my thoughts. "Ridiculous child. Did you really not realize that, if you had just given me your miraculouses, no fighting, no terrorizing of Paris, none of it would have happened? Maybe I need to have you homeschooled again, if you're that clueless."
He was right. I didn't know that before. But that didn't matter, because I did now . I stood up, a wave of energy settling on me. "Well, come over and get it then- stop making other people do it for you. All that says is that you're a coward. Prove me wrong." I waved my hand with the ring on it in the air. "Come and get it."
