I woke up the next morning cold. I felt around the bed for Fionna and when I came up short, my eyes flew open. The smell of bacon hit me like a smack in the face. I slipped out of bed and down stairs to the kitchen. Fionna was there cooking breakfast while I heard Lily and Gumball talking in the dinning room.
I wrapped my arms around her waist, watching her cook.
"Morning," she said, softly and sweetly.
"Morning," I replied, pressing my lips to her cheek. She smiled and finished cooking. When it was done we all sat in the dining room eating.
"So, how'd you guys sleep," Gumball said, glaring at me.
"Fine. How about you and Lily," I replied, glaring right back.
"Perfect," he said between bites of pancakes. We finished at the same time and walked into the kitchen to put out plates in the sink. No sooner had my plate landed safely in the sink than I was being pushed against the wall by Gumball.
"Alright Marshall," he hissed, his voice just barely above a whisper, "what kind of angle are you playing?"
"What are you talking about," I hissed right back, bewildered by this sudden outburst of hostility.
"You know good and well what I mean," he said. "Stay away from Fi and do us all a favor by vanishing."
Then just as quickly as it happened, it ended and he walked off.
