Chapter Five - "You are The One I'm waiting For"
I smiled as I walked down to the beach. I loved summer evenings, the sun was shining, the breeze was light and I was happy. Now that the school year had ended, I was excited for the holidays. To celebrate, me and Dhruv had decided to meet up at the beach.
I loved this sheltered beach cove. It was a place where I came to dream, to hope, to anticipate, to mourn even, but mostly to cherish the important moments in my life. I had come here in the moments when I was happy, come here in the moments when I had been down with the disappointments of my life, this place held a special place in my heart. I walked down here often, just looking at the sea and thinking about life in general.
I gazed dreamily at the waves, just thinking about the pleasant turn life had taken. I was actually really happy with my life, I had finished my high school life, I had my lovely family, amazing friends, my adorable siblings, and now even a friend that could become something more. Is this was love was like? We had only met a while ago, but I enjoyed spending time with him.
Nowadays seeing Aisha and Rohan sometimes I felt lonely, but I pacified myself. There was plenty of time in life and I am sure that I would find my prince charming one day. The confusion was that was Dhruv my prince charming? Was he the one I was waiting for? I didn’t know, I didn’t know his feelings for me, I had no idea, but honestly I didn’t mind. I was content to let life go as it was going, change was inevitable, all I could hope for was pleasant changes.
“Diya… Diya!” Dhruv’s soft voice brought me back to my present, and startled, I saw him standing at the foot of the tree, standing with his hand outstretched
I realised I had been so lost in my thoughts I hadn’t even heard him arrive and I took his hand and jumped down from the branch, noticing he was hiding something behind his back.
Intrigued I tried to peek at what it was.“Dhruv did you buy a present for me?”
“Woah, no hi no hello, straight away to the present huh? Gosh Diya, that’s nice of you” Dhruv said
“Oh, no I am sorry, I just was excited. Anyways how are you? How was your exam today? Did it go well? Do you think you will get good marks? Gosh you must be relaxed now, time to chill. What are you planning for the holidays?”
“Diya, wow, so many questions. Slowly, slowly I will answer all of them, calm down” interrupted Dhruv. “I am fine, my exam went well, I have no idea about results though, and yes I am relaxed now. You say, how were your exams?”
“Mine were good too. I am so keen for the holidays. I have so much planned. Aisha is probably going to come over this weekend so we will enjoy.”
“Oh nice. Well have fun with her” he replied, still hiding his hands behind his back.
“Dhruv, now just tell me what you are hiding please? I cant wait any longer. And why did you insist on meeting up here?
“Okay well now this is it.” He paused for a moment, took a deep breath and then continued on. “I know this place is special to you, so I just wanted to make it even more special. I want to share my feelings with you, and express how special you have become in my life.
