Chapter Seven - "Because I love you..."
“Dhruv, now where are we going?”
“Wait and watch” he replied, turning on the headlights of the car, as it was nearing sunset.
“First the walk at the waterfront, then the dinner, then ice-cream, and now? How much more perfect can you make this Valentines?” I questioned him.
“Diya I have a feeling this will be the favourite part of this day.”
“Dhruv, every moment spent with you is perfect. You are perfect for me.” I told him.
“Well after all I am your prince charming aren’t I?” he teased.
“Yes you are. You really truly are and you made all my dreams come true. I always wished I could celebrate Valentine’s Day, every year when I used to watch all the couples together I would hope that one day I would be with my prince charming one day, and today Dhruv you surpassed every dream I had.” I told Dhruv. “You are really made for me.”
“Diya, that’s really very sweet of you, but whatever I did, it was just to make you happy” he replied.
“And I am really happy. I don’t think I’ve ever been happier. Thank you Dhruv for coming into my life.” I said to him.
“No, thank you Diya. You know Diya, right now with the sun at that angle, the sunlight shines out behind you and honestly you look like some angel that has come to be with me. That blush on your face, your radiant smile, your sparkling eyes, you truly look like a princess right now” Dhruv said.
“Dhruv...I...” I didnt know what to say, I just blushed. When Dhruv said things like this, it made me feel as if I was living a dream. I knew he meant every word he said, but I could scarcely believe that someone could feel this way about me.
I fingered the bracelet on my wrist, playing with the charm he had given me today. This whole evening that we had been together, each moment deserved to be cherished. This was my perfect Valentines’ day. When we had met I had given him my present, a keychain with two interlocking D’s, saying it was for our love that would never separate. Dhruv had hugged me tight and immediately put it on his keys saying it would remain with him forever. I had teasingly demanded my present and he had removed a small box from his pocket, making my eyes widen and my heart beat faster. I gasped, making Dhruv laugh as he opened it, revealing a key shaped charm inside. He told me it was to match the charm he had given me for our first anniversary and because I held the key to his heart. When I slipped it on my wrist immediately, he had smiled, telling me he had hoped I would wear the bracelet today. That was only the start of our evening and after that each moment had been lovely, and now I didn’t know how he could make it even more special.
“Okay we are here” Dhruv announced.
I had been so lost in my thoughts I hadn’t even realised where we were going, and now looking around it seemed we were in some sort of park. I turned around to face Dhruv, who had a soft smile on his face. As always I just looked into his eyes and was mesmerized. I marvelled at the fact that after falling into his arms all those months ago, his eyes still captured me as much as they did that day.
“Diya...you are so beautiful.” he whispered, as he leaned closer and gently brushed a lock of hair off my face.
Inevitably I blushed, making him smile and say “Now lets go?”
I nodded and turned around to open the door, my hand on the handle just as he said “wait”. I turned around confused, watching as he got out of the door and came around to my side of the car and opened the door for me, making me smile.
