Chapter 13

I got Bradley a surprise today. I think he's going to like it. We are all back in LA. NY was fun but I'm happy to be home.

We're headed to Bradley's house now. Olivia's going to spend the day with him and I will not be there. I'll only be there for like the first ten minutes.

We arrive at his house and I knock on the door. I have his surprise in my hand.

He answers and says "Hi"

"Hi Bradley!" Olivia says. When we were in New York Olivia kept calling him Bradley (she talks about him a lot) and me and Sarah kept telling her she could call him daddy. She is so used to calling him Bradley that that's just what she calls him. I'm sure once he says it to her she will start calling him it.

"Hey" I say.

"Come in" He says and we walk into his house.

"Here you go" I say and hand him a manila folder.

"What am I being sued?" He asks.

"Just read it" I say.

He opens the folder up and starts reading it. It was all about him becoming ones of Olivia's legal guardians and all that. I thought it would have been way harder to get those papers but it actually wasn't.

"We are going to have to go to family court to make you her legal guardian so your kinda are being served papers. It was kinda confusing. The lady I talked to on the phone said that most people that do this normal fight for custody and it takes months to settle that. If we just go up and say we want joint custody it will be done in a day" I say.

"What does being a legal guardian even mean?" He asks.

"A lot goes into it but basically you get a little more freedom with her. If she got hurt with you and needed to go to the hospital you would have to wait for me to get there since as of right now I'm just her legal guardian. You would be able to just take her there yourself. You get the rights to enroll her in school in your community. If something ever happened to me and I couldn't take care of her she would go to Sarah since that's her god mother but if you are her legal guardian you would get her. I wasn't going to tell you this but you could have gotten in trouble for posting or taking pictures of Olivia without my consent. If I chose to press chargers, which I never would do, you could have gotten fined. Once you become her legal guardian you can take pictures of her all the time. It's a lot. Everything else you need to know is in the packet" I say.

"Thank you" He says.

"Your welcome. You need to fill all these papers out for Thursday. That's when I made the court appointment mostly because that was the closest one they had" I say.

"Got it" He says.

"Thank you" I say.

"For what? I should be thanking you for the papers" He says.

"Thank you for not getting mad at me for not telling you about her and thank you for becoming involved in her life as soon as you found out. Your the best dad ever for her" I say.

"Your welcome." He says. I could tell he wanted to say more but didn't know what to say.

"I'll see you later" I say to him.

"See you later" He says back.

"Bye Livy. I'll see you later too" I say

"Bye mommy" Olivia says.

Bradley's POV:

Sabrina just left and I'm really excited. I have a surprise for Olivia today. Since I'm more like her dad now and just some guy she hangs out with a couple times a week, I though I would make my house a little more dadish.

"Come on. I want to show you something" I say to her.

"Ok" She says. We go upstairs and I was about to open the door to the guest room.

"This is your other bedroom" She says.

"Yes but it's not mine anymore" I say and open the door.

I pretty much redid the entire room into a little girls room. I took the bed that was originally in there and changed the sheets and everything else to a Disney princess theme. I figured she would like them since she's three and being raised by a Disney star. I wasn't sure how much she would actually sleep here so the bed can just be used as a trampoline. I also painted the room light pink. Before it was dark gray. Then of course a lot of toys and a like shelf thing to keep all these toys in. I got her some books too. I also got her a few outfits for the closet. My mom helped with the picking out toys and outfits for a little girl. My favorite thing that I got her was a mini baseball set. I got a little pink and white mitt that I see all the little girls wearing and a couple of pink balls that were really soft and made for toddlers. Then to top it all off a red Minnie Mouse tee shirt with her holding a baseball and a matching Minnie Mouse baseball cap.

She was so excited she didn't know what to play with first.

"Thank you Bradley!" She says and hugs me. I smile, I love when she hugs me.

I hug her back and say, "Your welcome. You know you can call me daddy if you want"

"I want to. Mommy and aunt Sarah kept saying I could but I didn't believe them. I wanted you to say it" She says.

"I'm 100% ok with you calling me daddy" I say.

"Then your my daddy" She says.

The rest of the day I was opening boxes of toys. She would play with one thing for five minutes then see something else she liked and have me open that. Then once that was opened play with it and have me open another one. I didn't mind it I love getting to spend time and play with her. This is what I imagine Christmas to be like with a little kid. This can be like our pre Christmas.

About two hours later Sabrina came to pick her up.

"Bye daddy" She says and hugs me.

"Bye Olivia" I say and hug her back. I wish I had a cute pet name to call her. Sabrina calls her all these nicknames like Liv or Livy but I just call her Olivia.

They leave and I go upstairs and clean up all the boxes. I didn't show Sabrina the room yet but I'm sure Olivia will tell her all about it.
