Dave

When I got the call from Katerina, the last thing I expected was her being chased by a car. I felt my heart drop to the floor at the sound of her voice.

Fear and panic was evident and I felt so helpless.

She doesn't know but the same fear and panic was running through my veins as I raced to get to her before anything can happen.

As I was driving to her a million thoughts was running through my head and one of them was our earlier conversation. It was her fears, the same fears she talked about was what I was feeling.

That was a few minutes of hell and she had endured days of it.

God I'm such a moron.

Now here I am, holding the most important person in my life as she shook with tears.

"I'm here, baby. Your safe now. I'm so sorry..."

She shook her head against me. Her tears has somewhat subsided, but still there nonetheless.

"Our fight... it... it... it..." she hiccuped. "I'm sorry. It wa-was unfair... I don't want you to give up your job. I didn't mean wha-what I said."

"I know. I was stupid and selfish. I just wanted to get back to you. Please believe me sweetheart, all I could think about was getting back to you that I didn't think of anything else."

"Lia said the same thing," she said, making me frown in question.

"You talked to her?"

She nodded.

Just then, the sound of another car arriving sounded.

I knew who it was. It was Nate and Jake.

"Is everything okay? Katie, are you okay? What the hell happened?"

"I'll explain everything later, right now we need to go to the police and file a report," I said. "Jake can you take Katerina's car?" I asked.

He nodded and I tossed him the keys.

I led Katerina to my car and we drove to the police station.

Katerina

The things that followed was all a blur. Everything felt like a dream.

I was chased by a maniac and...

Could it have anything to do with the prank calls and the cards?

Deep inside I knew it did, but a part of me refuses to acknowledge it.

"Ms. Anastasi, do you know anyone who would want to cause you harm?"

I looked at Dave and knew that if I told the police about the calls and the cards, he would lose his mind. Same with my family. They'd be so angry at me for hiding this, but this is serious. Prank calls and cards were harmless, but that car chase, that was downright terrifying. If they're at all connected then I need to come clean.

"Ms. Anastasi?"

I blinked a couple times, trying to gather my thoughts back together. "I... well... I don't know exactly, but back in college I started getting these random gifts and t cards," I began.

"What kind of cards?"

"Anonymous ones," I said and I felt Dave stiffen beside me. "I really didn't think much of it. The cards were always signed with the initials H.J. I only got freaked out  when I started after receiving text messages from the said person I immediately changed my number. My dad knew and hired some bodyguards for me. We even filed a report, but at the time nothing can be done since it wasn't anything harmful. The gifts continued, so I decided to move out of my dorm to a safer apartment," I continued. "It eventually stopped..." I trailed off. By this time, Dave was completely stiff and quiet, but I could feel the anger coming off of him.
