It's been a couple of months since Dave left. I don't know where he's gone. I won't let anyone talk about him. It hurts too much.
I've started seeing a psychologist. One that my doctor recommended and it's been helping a lot. I had nightmares about what happened to me every single night since I woke up in the hospital, but it's slowly starting to lessen ever since I've been talking about what happened to me.
"Hey sis," Lia greeted as she knocked on my office. Gabby was right behind her.
"Hey aunt Katie," she grinned.
"Hey you two, come on in. Just give me a minute."
"Still good to have Gabs over?"
"Of course. We're having girls night, right Gabby?"
She nodded.
"How's the baby in there? Giving you a hard time?" I asked Lia as I finished up the last couple of things in my accounting book for my gallery.
"I can't wait till I can see both feet again," she chuckled. "By this has been the easiest pregnancy out of all my little hellions."
I laughed. "Are you planning to have any more after this one?"
Lia shrugged. "I know Nate would like to have at least one more after this one, but I told him, let's just get though this baby first and see."
I smiled. "He's a good dad."
Lia nodded. "The very best."
"Alright. I'm all done," I said.
"I'm surprised you haven't gotten rid of Louis and Lloyd," Lia said as we walked back out, so I can lock up the place.
I shrugged. "Honestly, I just feel safer with them there."
Lia nodded in understanding.
"Aunt Katie, can we bake some cookies tonight?" Gabby asked, as I lock up the back entrance.
"Absolutely. We'll pig out on cookies, ice cream, and popcorn," I winked as she giggled.
Lia just rolled her eyes. "One cookie with one scoop of ice cream, and a small bowl of popcorn."
Gabby and I looked at each other, then back to Lia and pouted, making her laugh.
We walked out and Harrison, her new guard and driver handed me Gabby's overnight bag.
"Thanks," I said.
"Be good, pumpkin okay?"
"I will," Gabby replies while hugging her mom.
"I'll see you tomorrow," I said, before giving her a hug.
"See you," she waved.
"Ready, buttercup?"
"Ready."
Dave
"How is she?" I asked over the phone.
"She's good all things considering. Gabby's sleeping over. They're baking and just having a girl's night."
I smiled at that. "Is she giving you guys a hard time?"
"No. She just pretty much pretends we're not here most of the time. Like I told you before, I actually think she likes us being here. It makes her feel safe."
"Good. I can't thank you both enough."
"This the least we could do after everything you've done for us, Dave."
