Lottie lead Noah over to her table in the corner. She had never had anyone sit with her before, it was quite overwhelming. Yet she smiled the whole time, his face mirroring hers unintentionally. They sat in a comfortable silence for a little while as Noah sat down and glanced around, and Lottie placed her books into her bag. Noah broke the silence.
"Hey Lottie, how often do you come to this library?"
"Don't tell him, he'll think you're weird" Lottie's mind interrupted her thoughts
"Shut up! I can make decisions for myself!" she argued in her head.
"Well, I usually come here everyday except Sundays, when the library is closed, I just like the quiet" She admitted.
"Ah I've always been the opposite. I love loud music, and it gives me a feeling of pride if I've played that music myself. But I understand what you mean about spending a lot of time here, I would spend forever in band practice if I could!" He smiles softly
"Yeah I get it. So what's your band called and what position do you play?" Her nervousness disappearing again.
"Were called "Can't Be Tamed" and I'm lead singer and bass player." He smiles proudly, those dimples on display once again.
"Have you done any gigs" Lottie asked, suddenly very interested.
"A few small gigs, but we have our first proper concert tomorrow in the Metro Radio Arena. Were going to be the opening act for The Killers. I'm so honoured and excited that we got the chance!! Hey, you wanna come? The tickets are sold out but I can get you in with me as a VIP for free?"
"Oh my god, really??" Lottie's smile was wider then the distance between Earth and the stars.
"Yeah o'course! It'll be awesome, It starts at 6pm tomorrow night and the entire concert runs till 9pm, you up for it?"
"Totally!! I'll just check with my parents but I'm sure they'll be thrilled that I can go somewhere with a friend!!... That is if we could call eachother friends.... You don't have to be my friend if you don't want too..." She stuttered.
"Oh well fucking brilliant Lottie. Now he knows what a sad little misfit you are. Congrats!!" She didn't argue back this time.
"Of course were friends!" He smiles widely.
Lottie's hand is resting on the table when his slides his hand onto it and he squeezes gently, as if to say "you don't have to worry".
Lottie's heart did that flippy-over thing that happens in the romance novels she'd read. Her cheeks flushed again and he giggled.
Lottie and Noah continued to chat and get to know eachother. Before they knew it 6pm rolled around and it was time for the library to close. They walked outside and the bitter winter wind hit their warm cheeks.
"Hey Lottie, wanna exchange numbers so I can text you the details about tomorrow?" Noah asked politely.
"Sure" Lottie took out her phone and swapped numbers with him.
Just as Lottie went to say goodbye, Noah pulled her in for a quick hug and reached for one of her hands. He held it like it was a delicate snowflake.
"See you tomorrow yeah?" He smiled cutely, squeezing her hand gently again.
"Yeah" Lottie sighed happily.
Noah released her hand and smiled with half of his face before turning and running off to his dad's car.
Lottie watched in awe as he got into his dad's car and drove off, that same unbreakable smile tattooed on her face. She was quite dazed by it all as she turned on her heels and walked home. She gripped her backpack between her icy fingers as she pushed on through the taunting wind.
After about 15 minutes of mindless wandering, she reached her house. She walked inside and lit the log fire, sitting in front of it to warm herself up. Her family had always struggled financially so Lottie's parents had to work 9am-8pm every day to keep a roof over their heads. Therefore, Lottie would have to look after herself everyday. Lottie still had about an hour and a half until her parents got home so she pulled out her phone and texted Noah.

Lottie's parents walk through the door at 8:30, tired and motivationally drained.
"Mum, Dad... Can I ask you something?" Lottie asked quietly.
"Yeah sure... I'm just a bit tired so sorry if I don't answer too well." Lottie's Mum yawns tiredly.
"Would I be able to go to a concert with a friend tomorrow? It's at the Metro Radio arena 6pm till 9pm and it's free?" Lottie crossed her fingers.
"Yeah that's fine. Just take you're phone and keep us posted. Hey who is this friend you're talking about?"Lottie's Mum asks, thrilled.
"He's called Noah. I met him at the library." That's all, Lottie thought, her parents needed to know.
"Okay then, but no smooching in the back row!" Lottie's Dad jokes.
"DAD!!" She exclaimed, throwing her hands onto her hips.
"Haha I'm just messing with ya, have fun!" He hugged her "well I'm off to bed because I'm shattered, nanight." He yawned.
"Me too" Lottie's mum said and they both trundled up the stairs to bed. Lottie pulls out her phone once more.
