Haven't done much editing with this chapter but OH WHALE. Enjoy ;) ❁

Jen's POV

Day one is the day the entire production team goes into crisis mode.

Working for a TV show often feels like you're racing against the clock, because we don't have an unlimited amount of time to film every scene. There have been times where we were shooting until three o'clock in the morning, only to go home and stay up even longer to learn our lines for the next day. There's always a little bit of time calculated into the schedule in case we have to reshoot something, but more often than not that's already pushing the limits.

So having to call the director to let him know I will be out for at least two weeks makes me feel absolutely horrible. Add to that the fact that I have to explain to him I just "slipped in the bathtub".

And it doesn't make me feel better when their first concern is my wellbeing. I apologize at least ten times in one phone call, but they assure me they'll figure something out. I spend the rest of the day worrying about how one stupid accident gets everyone in trouble, until Colin gets home later that night.

And it's good news.

Somehow, they're able to rearrange the schedule so most of my scenes are pushed back until later, and they can use a stand-in for a few shots. Still, we're going to have to stay in Vancouver two weeks longer than expected, which means we're going on break only a few days before Christmas Eve.

It's almost a miracle that it fits in everyone's schedule. I get a million phone calls from the cast and crew, asking me how I'm doing, and on Friday night Ginny comes over with some homemade dinners, multiple bags of chips and two huge bowls of guacamole.

The only positive thing about all of this?

I finally have a valid excuse to binge-watch all of the movies and TV shows that are piled up next to my TV. I've figured out a way to leave the couch without someone having to pull me up, and shortly after Ginny leaves I get up (at turtle speed, mind you) to pick out the fifth movie I'm going to watch today.

I've only barely reached the cabinet when I hear a key in the lock, and I turn around to see a mattress walking in.

No kidding. I stop and just stare at the mattress, which pushes through the door, and then Colin's head pops out from behind it.

"Okay, what on earth are you planning to do with that?" I ask, nodding at the mattress he's throwing to the floor now.

"Hold on one second." He turns around and goes back to his apartment. Five minutes later, he's back with some sheets, a box of fairy lights and duct tape.

Okay, I see where this is going now.

"Do you think that lamp can hold some weight?" Colin asks.

I look up at the lamp above the coffee table, the one lamp that I almost never switch on because the light is far too bright. "Well, I'm not sure, but I figure it can."

"Great. Okay, so since you're going to be spending a lot of time in this spot, I suggest we make it a little cozier." He drops the sheets and the fairy lights next to the couch and looks up at me with a smile on his face.

I can't with this guy. He's just had a full day of filming and I'm pretty sure he's exhausted, but he's here, about to build a blanket fort for me. He dropped by this morning to check on me, plus he walked both of the dogs and took them to set today, so this is the last thing I deserve.

"You know you're awesome, right?" I say.

"I do." He takes off his shoes and walks back to drag the mattress to the couch. "Now let's get started on the most epic blanket fort you've ever seen."
