I look over and see my dad standing in the door frame, fire fuming from his ears.

"What the hell Calum?" he yells and I stand up, "You scared the shit out of your mother and I, what do you think you were doing? And don't you dare give me some shit excuse like homework, because we all know you weren't doing homework until 10 at night" I can see Mali-Koa in the hallway, looking at me sadly. She knows I'll never be the perfect little brother she wants me to be.

"Dad, calm down. I was just out with a friend," I tell him quietly, trying not to bother my mom. But it didn't work to well, because when my dad is mad, he doesn't show any mercy.

"Friends!? How dare you go out with friends when you could be here working or spending time with your family. We took your communication with them away for a reason Calum. You have no right to go out against our orders and spend time with people like them. Like Vince or Jose-"

"How dare I?" I yell back. I'm about to tell him I can hang out with whoever I want. He has no right to take away my life, but decide that will get me nowhere. Instead, I take a different approach.

"Dad, how can you assume I would go against your will like that? What makes you think I'm so bummed about this switch that I would avoid making new friends? I have the capability to make new ones, and that's what I did! I was with a new friend. From my new school," I explain. The funny thing about it all is that my situation is just as he thought, I just don't think it's in my best interest to tell him that.

I would go against his will. That's why he assumed I would. I did.

I did avoid making new friends today. I mean, a few of the guys were nice, but I didn't go out of my way to gain their friendship.

Maybe I do have the capability to make new friends, maybe I don't. I'm the new kid, and usually that doesn't put anybody in a good position, no matter what their old life was like.

But my dad seems to buy it.

"Oh..." is all he can respond with.

Just like that, I'm left alone in my small room. Mali-Koa disappeared from the hall before I started shouting. I close the door before making my way back to bed. I guess I should be more careful next time.

Actually, next time, my parents should think twice before trying to uproot me from my entire life.

I wake up to an empty house. I'm glad they don't feel the need to take more than one day off for my "moving sake," to put it in their words.

I take off my dirty white shirt and replace it with a clean one, ignoring the pile of flannels beside my bed and not bothering to change out of my tight black jeans. I grab a brush and look into the small mirror on my wall, brushing my hair the way I always wear it. As I stand in my room, peacefully brushing my hair, and I hear small taps coming from my window.

I raise an eyebrow, curiosity taking over as I wander across the room. Upon pulling back the curtains, I'm greeted with a concentrated Michael in the window across from me. My eyes widen and I look at him suspiciously. I knew there were new people living next door - they moved in three days ago. What I did not expect was to see the chubby boy who attempted to converse with me during my first day at Willis High.

I open up the window to talk to him, his window already being open.

"Can I help you?" I ask him, leaning against the windowsill. His cheeky smile doesn't go away as he shakes his head.
