Despite my hatred towards Luke, I still end up in front of his house the very next day. I mean, I'm not there to request an apology or anything, only to attend the party. If I'm lucky, the amount of cars on the street means there are a ton of people and I won't actually have to see Luke tonight.
Michael wasn't invited, so that means it'll just be me.
I'm here to do what I wanted to do with Luke.
Make some friends, gain a reputation.
(not that other thing that I know you all were thinking, ya nasty)
I walk up to the door and move my hand to knock, but it's pointless. Before my fist makes any contact with the door, it's open. A guy who is slightly shorter than me, with short, messy brown hair stands in front of me. He lets me in with not even as much as a second glance before talking to his friend, also with short brown hair.
The door is closed behind me as I walk through the familiar hallway to the kitchen. I can picture Luke's mom standing there like the day before, offering me a treat. As I thought about it, I realized I'd forgotten what the treat I never got to eat was.
I look around the house, seeing hundreds of people all over the place. I would talk to someone, but imagine where I would be if I talked to the wrong person and then on Monday, any chance I had at being a role model at this new school will be ruined.
God, I wish Michael was with me. He knows almost the entire school attendance inside and out. If only he was with me for a judge of character.
I'm about to move on from my spot in the kitchen when I feel a hand on my shoulder. I turned to look at a smiling Jessica, looking very good. Her hair is pulled up in a tight ponytail and she has on mini jean shorts and a black halter top. She grabs my hand and drags me to her group of friends. The relatively large clump of people consists of 5 other girls and 3 guys.
"Hey Jess, who's this?" A blonde wearing pink from head to toe asks. Jessica smiles and gets the attention of the rest of the group. I'm introduced to everybody, and they all seem nice so I don't feel weird dancing and having fun with the group.
After about an hour of standing around and talking to everyone while dancing and drinking, we all make our way to a large living room. The group separates as we sit in a large circle with a ton of other party guests.
A glass bottle sits in the middle of the circle and I know that means we're playing a game, but I can't quite remember what it is.
"Spin the Bottle," someone says from beside me with a familiar voice. I turn to look at the source of the voice and am surprised when I see my old friend Lyal. He smiles at me, happiness clear in his soft features. I can feel the excitement radiating off of him that obviously comes from seeing me again.
"What are you doing here, Lyal?" I ask him, confusion and happiness both mixing in my voice.
"Vince was invited, and he brought me with him. I didn't really know why because he knows I'm not a party guy, but I'm glad you're also here," he explains to me. I suddenly realize that means I could've brought Michael with me even though he didn't have an invitation.
"Hey everybody, Louis here is going to start the game for us! The two brown haired boys who opened the door for me are standing on a coffee table right outside the circle. The boy with the messier hair of the two jumps off of the table and walks towards the bottle in the middle. He takes hold of the bottle and spins it.
