We walk into Luke's large house together. He opens the unlocked front door and holds it open for me. I slip off my shoes and look around at the beautiful home. He walks past me down a small hallway and I follow him. The hallway seems to lead to a kitchen and dining room.

He moves to the left side of the room where a blonde lady is bent over in front of the washing machine. Luke walks behind her to the fridge as I watch silently. The blonde lady, whom I assume is his mom, stands to look at me.

"Oh Luke, I didn't know you were having company over," she says, smoothing her shirt, "I would have made something for the two of you. What do you like dear? Cookies, pie?" I look at the friendly looking woman in front of me in astonishment. I come into her home without her invitation, and she is offering me food? I don't think my mother would ever do such a thing.

"Can you make cinnamon roles, mum?" Luke asks, confirming my earlier assumptions about the woman. An excited look takes over her face as she turns to find the things she needs for the tasty snack.

"Of course dear, right away!" Luke pulls two Cokes out of the fridge and walks over to me, shoving a can against my chest. Before we walk away, Luke's mom turns and says,

"Oh, I forgot to introduce myself! How rude of me. I'm Liz, and you are?" she holds out her hand, which I take, shaking lightly.

"Calum," I reply simply. She smiles.

"Well Calum, you're welcome in the Hemmings household anytime!" she says before Luke drags me away by my empty hand, causing Liz to go back to her work. He drags me up a flight of stairs into a bedroom which I can only assume is his own. He jumps on the large bed in the middle of the room with his Coke and opens the can. I open my can, but stay in the doorway while I chug it down. When I remove the red can from my lips, a long burp escapes my mouth. There are a couple seconds of silence before Luke erupts in a fit of laughter. I can't help but join him as I stumble into the room, throwing the empty coke can on the floor. I fall onto his bed, laughter taking over both of us. Luke tries to take a whip at his Coke and spits it out all over the floor, too weak to overcome his laughter.

"It was just a burp," I say, finally somewhat overcoming my laughter. Luke hits my arm and stands up off the bed.

"You were laughing just as hard as I was, faggot," he laughs, seemingly oblivious to the word that just escaped his mouth. It doesn't go unnoticed by me.

"What the fuck did you just call me," I say angrily. Any previous feelings of happiness are completely gone. He looks at me with a blank stare and shrugs.

"Faggot," he says it again, with the same no big deal attitude as the first time. My anger level rises.

"I am not gay," I growl. Luke takes a step back, holding his hands up in front of his chest.

"Gosh, I'm sorry. I wasn't implying you were gay, I just use that word casually most of the time," he says, "I even call my mom a faggot so don't take it personally." He offers me a light, reassuring smile.

I roll my eyes and walk out of the room, "I'm going to let myself out," I say. Luke chases after me and stands in front of me when I get to the bottom of the stairs.

"Stop! I apologized mate, don't just leave," he says. I scoff at him.

"Maybe I just don't want to be here, okay?" I say. A look resembling a sad puppy takes over his face as he mumbles a quiet, "okay.."

I quickly slip on my shoes and leave the house, puppy dog Luke watching me in the doorway as I walk to my car, get in, and drive away. He doesn't leave the doorway until I can't see him anymore.
