I take the book off his hands and touch it's cover.
"Read it when you go home," He tells me.
"Thank you doctor Brice," I say before I leave the clinic. I walk to the waiting room while staring at the book. I wonder what kind of mysteries this book holds that I don't know. I hope it answers all my questions about my life. As I open the door to the waiting room, I see Rylee with her earphones, most likely listening to her favorite song, Havana. She sometimes just messages me the lyrics and we finish it off 3 times or more without even knowing. She sees me with a book and gets frustrated.
"OMG...are you pregnant?" She tries whispering.
"What makes you think that?!" I ask her.
"Well, when women become pregnant, they receive a book for their baby," She explains. I hit her head with the book.
"You dumb baka! It's just a few things about me," I tell her.
"Oh... What's baka?" She asks me.
"Idiot in Japanese," I explain.
"Isn't one language enough to criticize me..?" She questions in a childish tone.
"Nope," I reply while chuckling away. Somehow we ended up at the mall and I wasn't regretting it. I kept my book in the seat which turns into an arm rest which... yeah I just left it there. We adventured through many shops and by many I mean NEARLY EVERY SHOP. RYLEE IS SO SHOPAHOLIC. I don't how to tell her "I HATE SHOPPING!". I just may go along with it for the wedges. We stopped by takeaway and I got WEDGES. They were baked perfectly. Nicely seasoned with the crisped edges, and sour cream. It felt like I already had been in heaven and sadly, returned. We went around for a few shoe shops. And another fun fact, Shoes are the only thing I shop for (besides wedges).
"Hey Ryls!" An unformiliar voice called out.
"OMG! SUP BABE! It's been so long, I don't think you've realized Alex," Rylee replies to him.
"You know, senior year and what not crap. Whose this?" He asks.
"Miracle Lawson, New student this year AND MY BFF!" She squeals. I chuckle at her excitement.
"Hi, I'm Miracle," I say and I bring my hand out.
"Alexander, You can call me Alex," He shakes my hand. Somehow... He looks just like me. Black hair, and blue eyes. Even the way our faces are structured, it's a coincidence. I feel a weird connection between us. Not that I like him, it's a completely different thing. It's as if I'm seeing my other self.
"I'll see you guys later? I need to catch up with my girl friend," Alex tells us. We say goodbye to him and continue off to go home. I agreed that after I drop the book home, I'll stay over with Rylee. It's Saturday and I need time off the crap in my life. I get home and put Doctor Brice's book in my cupboard, way beneath my clothes. I leave as soon as possible after that. Of course, I needed to tell that mama agreed which I did and I was allowed so yup, it's gonna be pretty good. I was surfing through my phone when I looked at the secret messenger app. It's been pretty long he messaged me so I decided to open the app. I opened up to 1,682 messages. ONE GUY IN ONE WEEK HAS SENT ME 1,682 MESSAGES. OH LORD. SO MUCH TO READ. Luckily, 9/10 of the messages was just asking me if I was okay and the other 1/10 was just hello. At least he cares about my existence. I messaged him 30 things just to assure him I was fine. I really wonder who he is.
"You know, I have an elder sister?"Rylee tells me.
"Really?! What's her name?" I question her.
"Grace, She's in Harvard University studying to become a lawyer," She answered. From what Rylee continued telling me, Grace seemed pretty amazing. She earned a diploma of excellence and she's a brain box. I am just an average grade b student. It really explains how Rylee gets an A in nearly all her assignments. Rylee and I planned to camp outside the house. Cause... I wanted to. But that isn't important. Aunt Renee had made dinner for us all and it was delicious. As always. I continued messaging "him" after dinner and Rylee grabbed my phone.
"HE'S INTO YOU," She screamed
"STOP SCREAMING, And no. He has no idea about my identity," I tell her.
"SO TELL HIM! I MEAN YOU GUYS ARE IN THE SAME CLASS!" She screams again.
"Later," I say before I head to say goodnight to Stephanie and Dulce. I was walking through an hallway before I saw a large picture, painted of Aunt Rylee and someone else. I walked closer and realized it no one else but, Mom.
"I see something caught your mind dear," Aunt Renee said.
"Hi Aunt Renee..." I say hesitantly.
"What's wrong? Does your mother look weird in the photo?" She said. My mother... Wait she knows?!
"She's not my mother," I tried to assure her.
"Darling, no need to lie. I already knew from the beginning she was your mother," she told.
