'I don't know what the heck you think you're doing Maya, but it's not gonna work', Riley said to her as they walked to their fourth period class.

Maya chuckled and put her arm around her tall best friend, 'I'm already winning Riles', she responded as Riley put her arm around her as well.

'Those diamond earrings are mine,' she said as they entered the classroom.

The two girls sat down in their assigned seats and took their books out, turning to the page that was on the chalkboard and turned to each other, chatting about everything but Lucas.

'We still up for Milan this summer?' Riley asked Maya as more students began crowding in the class.

Maya's eyes enlarged and she smiled. 'Of course we are Riles! What would make you think otherwise?' She asked her.

Riley giggled and shook her head. 'I don't know I just thought that it would bother you if I brought my boyfriend', Riley smirked at Maya and Maya smiled, shaking her head.

The door to the classroom reopened and in came Lucas, holding his books in his hand.

'Hey Maya, Hi Riley,' Lucas said to the two girls as Riley batted her eyes and Maya just waved her hand, seeming to be uninterested.

He sat right behind Maya and she turned to him, placing her arm on his desk. She smiled at him and he smiled back, making eye contact and then quickly looking away.

Maya turned back and smirked, knowing that she had some type of effect on him.

She looked over to Riley who was busy looking over her homework, erasing or rewriting words that needed to be fixed.

Maya took out her own and placed it on the corner of her desk, not caring to look over it.

She took her phone out and scrolled through her Instagram until it vibrated and saw an unsaved number sent her a message.

new message:
unknown number: i didn't even feel you slip that paper in the pocket of my shirt.

Maya turned around to meet Lucas' stare and she smiled at him, tucking a strand of her blonde hair behind her ear and turning back towards the front.

Maya: ya girl is a sneaky one, huckleberry. watch out ;)

She heard him silently chuckle to himself as the door to the classroom opened up once again, revealing the teacher.

She put her phone away and the rest of the loud class became silent.

'Okay students, take out last nights homework and put it on the corner of your desks, Emily is gonna walk around and pick it up.'

The rest of the class went by fast as it always did.

The teacher was a lazy one, only ever giving out packets to do and pages to read.

The class was fairly easy and short.

The bell rang and the two girls walked to their lockers, giggling about something the class clown, Zay, had said.

'What do you wanna eat for lunch?' Riley asked her best friend as they grabbed their small bags.

Maya shrugged her shoulders, unsure of what she wanted to eat and shut her locker, leaning against it.

'Maybe we can get Taco Bell?' Riley said as she did the same.

Maya nodded her head vigorously and smiled at her best friend. 'I want nachos! And a taco!' Maya said to Riley as she began to giggle.

'Anything you want, honey.' Riley responded.

As the two girls made small talk, their 'friend', Farkle Minkus, passed by again.

'Farkle.' They both said at the same time, hoping that they get the response they wanted.

He walked over to them and smirked his handsome smirk. 'Ladies'. He responded back.

The two girls smiled at him, reminiscing on the old times when the three were inseparable.

High school came along though and the group of three, turned into a group of two, Farkle having found 'better' friends. He quickly turned into the hotty of the school and slowly stopped talking to the two.

'What have you been up to, Sparkles?' Maya asked him as he smiled at the sound of his old nickname, 'Abandoned any other friends lately?' She asked him, still hurt.

He rolled his eyes and crossed his arms. 'You guys were better of without me. Look at you two, you're even better friends now then when it was the three of us. I would just feel like a third wheel.' He said, chuckling at the end.

Riley smiled slightly and looked over at the door of the classroom that had just opened.

Out came Lucas, books in hand, backpack slinging from his muscular arm.

'Hey guys.' He said to the girls.

Farkle looked him up and down and raised a brow. 'Seven out of ten replacement girls. You could've done better.' He chuckled while the two girls glared at him.

He waved at them and smirked once again. 'See you two around'. He said to them as he walked away.

'What was that about?' Lucas asked them as he raised a brow.

Maya rolled her eyes and crossed her arms. 'Farkle, he uh, he used to be one of our best friends. It was the three of us, always. But then we uh, we came into high school and he found some other people to be friends with. A new, popular group of guys, Charlie Gardner and his gang kind of took him from us and we were never the same since then.'

Lucas nodded his head, in an understanding manor and Riley gave him a sly smile. 'It's kinda been hard for the both of us. The three of us grew up together, we were inseparable.... It's been hard.' She said, whispering the last part, keeping her eyes on the ground.

Maya smiled and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and put her hand on his shoulder. 'Yeah but let's not talk about it anymore. Or ever. C'mon let's go eat.' She said as she pulled the two towards the middle of the hallway.

Riley shut both girls lockers and the three began the walk towards Maya's car.
