Bella's POV
"Wait for me Morgan!" I shout, shoving on my boots and wrapping my scarf around my neck. I run after Morgan and slam my front door."Hurry up sweetheart, the conkers will all have been scavenged by small children by the time we get there!" Morgan says dramatically. In response I roll my eyes.
"I'm sure there will be some left. It's six in the morning: no one else in their right mind would be out this early." I say, shivering and zipping up my coat.I reach forward my gloved hand to catch Morgan's gloved hand, forcing him to wait for me. He turns back and smiles.
"Seriously, you walk so slow." he says, wriggling his hand free and taking off.
"Hey!" I shout, jogging after him. I'm so cold.
"Can't catch me, im the gingerbread man!" he spins around and shouts before racing off.
"Yes I can! I want a gingerbread man!" I scream and chase after him.Hes too fast for me, and by the time I get to the park, huffing and puffing, hes hitched himself up a tree and is swinging his legs. When he sees me he lightly leaps out of the tree and lands on the balls of his feet.
"So graceful," I clap my hands. Morgan bows and laughs. "Conkers or leaf piles first?" he asks.
"Conkers!" I say excitedly, already delving through the leaves to find the best conker. I bring up two, and squeeze them. One flakes away but one remains firm. I toss the weaker one away and start attaching the string to my chosen conker.Morgan takes a little longer finding his conker, muttering to himself.
The conker whisperer, in his natural habitat." I say, mimicking David Attenborough. Morgan looks up and laughs. "Hey, chuck me the string would you?"
"Sure," I toss it over to him, and menacingly whirl my conker on the string. "I'm ready!"Morgan bends over his conker and two minutes later we are ready for battle. We stand opposite each other, locking eyes.
"Hi-ya!" I scream, knocking my conker against his. He retaliates but knocking mine back so hard it swings on the string: but it's still intact. This goes on for a few minutes, but then my eyes narrow. I need to win this.I sway on my feet as if Im about to faint. Morgan looks concerned. "Bells, are you okay?" he touches my arm and I take the opportunity to smash his conker with all my force. It shatters and bits of conker go everywhere.
"Hey! No fair! Rematch!" Morgan whines.
"Nope! I won fair and square." I say, raising my arms up in triumph. "Don't fall for a Markels tricks." I laugh. Morgan looks sulky, but in a jokey way."Hey, don't worry little one. We can make a big leaf pile!" I pat him on the head and he starts leaping around.
Incase you are wondering why we are living our childhoods again, Morgan woke up early and said to me 'wanna go play conkers and jump in a leaf pile?" and of course I said yes. Who wouldn't?
I scoop up crackly, dry leaves and dump them in a pile. After ten minutes my hands are stiff under my gloves, and the pile is up to my knees.
"Done." I say, triumphantly.
"No way! It needs to at least be up to my stomach!" Morgan says. I sigh and we keep working. My stomach rumbles and I groan.
"Keep Working." Morgan says. It's nearing seven o clock and the sun is starting to peep out.Eventually, after twenty more minutes of manual labour, the pile is complete! I press record on my go pro, grab Morgan's hand, and we jump.
