Bellas POV
"Hey little birdie. Happy birthday."Morgan says as I open my eyes, his breath hot and minty on my face. I smile and lean up to kiss him before falling back onto my pillows. Morgan smiles back and snuggles beside me, pulling the duvet up to our chins. I turn on my side to face him. He turns on his side too, and pulls out a small badly-wrapped present and a card from under the duvet. I give him a big dimpley grin and kiss his cheek.
"I love you." I say.
"I love you too," Morgan says. "Now, open your present!" His beautiful brown eyes flashing with happiness. I laugh and carefully open the envelope. Inside is a beautiful message, written in Morgan's distinctive, curly handwriting which makes my heart soar.
"Thanks so much." I say, blushing.
Morgan blushes back, and nods towards the present. "Open it! Open it!" He begins chanting childishly. I giggle and nudge him.
"Okay, okay." I gently tear off the paper, and see a small black box. Carefully I open the box and gasp. Inside is a beautiful little bird pendant. Birds are our special thing, and I love how thoughtful Mogran is. A tear forms in my eyes, and I wipe it away. Morgan sees the tear and a look of panic flashes across his face.
"Oh shit, don't you like it? Shit, I'm sorry, I can go back to the store and ch..." He burbles and I place one finger on his lips, stopping the word vomit coming out his mouth (yes, I stole word-vomit from mean girls).
"Babes, I love it. I'm crying because its so thoughtful." I say, smiling happily at him, and the relief fills his face. "Can you help me put it on?" I ask.
"Sure," Morgan gently grabs the necklace with his big hands and I hold my breath. Morgan is quite clumsy, which is one thing I love about him, but I really don't want the birdie to break already. Surprisingly, he is very nimble with his fingers and undoes the clasp first time. I lift my long brown hair off my neck, and he does the clasp back up easily. "Happy birthday, my little bird."
***
I'm sitting, snuggled up next to Morgan, on the living room couch, watching Step Brothers with him and mom. Felix has gone up to bed, tired after going out for dinner and bowling for my birthday. My original birthday plan was to spend my birthday with Jen, but she was busy, probably with Alison, so my plan B was to spend the day with my boyfriend and my family.
We are just on the part where Dale and Brenan are building bunkbeds with two single beds when there is a knock on the door. 'I'll get it." I say leaping up. Mom pauses the film as I walk out the living room, into the hall and open the front door. Theres no-one there. Just as I'm about to shut the door, I catch sight of a big box on the floor. Curiously, I bend down and open the lid. And what I see makes me smile widely.
There is a cake in the box, which has been quite badly iced with white icing, and has a red sixteen piped on. This could only be one persons doing. Tysons.
Our cake business has been going for around two months, and its doing quite well. We have a £52.90 profit so far. Tyson and I both make the cakes, then I ice them. After this, Tyson puts a picture of the finished cakes on our website. We wait, and make more, then if anyone wants to buy a cake, we take it off the website and both drive to their address to give them the cake and get the money.
It seems long winded but it is actually quite fun. Each Saturday we spend three hours making as many cakes as we can, then throughout the week we deliver them. It doesn't take too long, and I enjoy hanging out with Tyson's. He's actually a really funny guy.
I told him that I wouldn't be going to his to make cakes this Saturday, as it was my birthday. So he made me this. How cute.
I pick up the box and take it into the living room. "Look, cake!" I say, placing it on the coffee table, and rushing to grab plates and forks. Mom and Morgan lean forward hungrily. Its only half eight, and has been an hour since we last eight.
"Who made you this?" Mom asks as I return, with a joyful Felix leaping behind me. He would get very annoyed if he knew we had ate cake without him, and besides, its a Saturday.
"Uhh... Jen. She felt bad for being busy so she left a note saying the cake was from her and Alison." I lie. If I said from Tyson, that would bring up questions. And I don't want Morgan knowing about what happened with me and Tyson ages ago.
"Where's the note?" Mom asks, suspiciously.
"It blew away," I say, closing my eyes and wishing as I cut my cake. I hurriedly slice up the cake, dish it out, and Felix clambers next to mom on their sofa. Mom leaves it alone, and presses resume on the TV. Morgan puts his arm around me and pulls he closer to him.
There's silence as everyone eats their cake and watches the film. When it gets to the part where Brenan gets crushed by the beds, we all burst out laughing.
All in all, a good birthday.
And the cake was very tasty.
