Chapter 8: The Truth
Draco extended his hand out to Hermione.
" What?" Hermione asked, looking into Draco's eyes, searching for the truth.
"Come on, we're apparating." Draco said, rolling his eyes.

They arrived at the front door of the Malfoy Manor and Hermione could see that Draco was still trying to surpress his tears although there was already a pearl- like substance rolling down his cheek.
He opened the foor and Hermione followed him in quietly. The very first thing she saw was neither the broken vase on the floor with dark red roses strewn around it, nor was it the blood that stained the walls of the living room.
It was a woman... This woman had a head full of grey and white hair, she wore torn and dirty robes and it didn't help that she looked as though she hadn't bathed in weeks. Her whole body shook and she sat on the floor, her arms wrapped around her knees, rocking back and forth.
Hermione turned to Draco, who approached the woman slowly and carefully, whispering to her.
" Mother... I'm back..."

" My father... He tortured her into insanity. I was right in the middle of it, yet i was unable to help her... Everything just... Exploded around me and... And I... He just kept on inflicting pain on me as I stood in between them... If I hadn't, my mum would probably not have lived." Draco muttered as he and Hermione stood in silence.
Hermione didn't even think or consider it, all she knew was that she did it. She wrapped her arms around him just as she had on the night they met at the bar.
She hugged Draco tighter as Draco slid his arms around her waist in return.
