"Dearest Amara,
In our sleep we are children again. We dream of past things. Things that will never be again. In our dreams we have comfort, freedom and love. Sometimes we can be visited by those we lost and for those perfect hours of sleep we are whole again.
I feel lost without you. The struggle to be without you while I'm away working is something that takes a toll on my heart. The night sky is filled with stars as I write this letter, stars that reminds me of the midnight blue that are your eyes.
I want you to promise me something. We will teach our son to believe in dreams, and also believe in nightmares. A dream is where he will have a world of his own, the things he will most want with the greatest of desires. Let him escape this world that is so cruel. Because it's sad to think that all those desires are over once he opens his eyes in the morning.
His nightmares will make him fight. It will make him fight the demons that come to haunt him; I need to you to make sure that he realises that he has power over his nightmares- for surely that's how he will become a man.
I probably will never have to courage to tell him that I love him dearly, face to face, that I admire him. But you can, you're his mother and he has faith in you.
So let him be who he wants to be, let him fail but watch him succedd- his dreams are yours and his demons are yours.
Make sure he has you always, now and in the afterlife.
I adore you Amara.

***I spent a good few hours sitting on the floor listening to Jen go through every. single. barbie. doll she had. I swear she had 50+ dolls- what does one do with so many dolls?
Jen started to rub her eyes whilst I had my legs crossed on the floor, my hand holding up my chin "Let's get into bed, Jenny. You're falling asleep." She nodded in agreement.
I stand up and slowly walk over to where she lays sleepily "Where's Luca?"
"He's working but he will be home soon to tuck you into bed properly."
I turn to leave when Jen calls out for me, her voice barely an audible whisper "Luca always gives me a kiss goodnight. I have nightmares if I don't have a kiss goodnight." I look at her and her eyes are dropping with sleep "I don't want nightmares Leliott." I give in. Bending down I place a kiss on her forehead, the warmth makes me smile.
"Goodnight Jenny."
"Na-night Leliott." With this she yawns and closes her eyes, she falls asleep in seconds. "I was just coming to check on her, you took a while." Says Ava as I close the door, she made me startle, causing me to swear.
She giggled "I didn't mean to scare you."
I ignore her dig "I'm going to get going."
Her face drops slightly, making me confused "I made dinner but everyone is asleep, do you want some food?"
