The next few days and weeks went by in such a blur. Eat, uni, practice, home, avoid dad and sleep. I was trying to avoid him at all costs, I would make sure I would come home when he's not in, I would lock myself in my room as a prisoner so he would think I'm asleep.
Truth be told, I just didn't want to speak to him about the arrangement, I know that deep down I would have no choice but to accept the fact that I would have to marry Tammy.
Tammy is all about looks, from the way her hair falls on her shoulders, to the tip of her heels. It wasn't someone I wanted, I never even thought about settling down, it's all a scam.
I finish up in the university gym where I was sweating buckets and find Ava walk into the gym. All the guys, including the football team started whistling like wild animals, her hair was in a slick back ponytail, her natural rosy cheeks warming up her face- she seemed flustered.
Her eyes land on me as I wipe off the sweat on my forehead, I feel my hair stick to the sides kf my head, I run fingers through it and Ava swallows.
She walks up to me, eyes stern "Where's Luca?" The cat calling continued in the background.
"How would I know?"
She looked down at my abs and back up at my face, I couldn't help but smirk. "I know you're here to see me." I pass my fingers through my hair again, purposely tensing up my biceps. Why am I even trying to impress her?
"You're hilarious. I need him to take me to my hospital appointment"
"Right well I don't know where he is." I pick up my towel and glare at Antonio and the team who were air rubbing her ass.
She huffed "Fuck." She unties her hair and pulls it back up again "Fine. If you see him, tell him to call."
I sigh "I can take you if you want?"
She does a double take as if to think of the offer "And how will we get there? My appointment is in 40 minutes." I put on my t-shirt after wiping down my drenched body "I have my motorbike with me today."
She nodded " Okay well let's go then." She beams at me, causing me to roll my eyes as she leaves.
"Looks like Elliot already got his hands on that perfect ass." Shouts Antonio from the weights section, a group of guys started chuckling and whooping.
"I'll get my hands around your throat and throw
you off the team if you disrespect her or anyone in front of me like that again."Everyone got back to their workout as if they didn't even see Ava, Antonio swallows and I walk out.
Muppet.
I reach outside where Ava is standing by the car park "Right, which one is yours?"
I walk up to the all matte black Harley Davidson parked up just as I left her "Here she is." Ava blows air out of her puckered lips "Are you sure this is safe? And why is it a she?"
I hand her over a helmet "Because she's hot?"
She looks at me sideways as she eyes the motorbike "But it's metal?"I eye her up and down "Do you want to walk?"
She throws her hands up in surrender.
"And in reply to before, you'll always be safe when you're with me."
I slip on my helmet and settle myself on the cool leather, I guide her to sit behind me "Okay now what?" I glance behind my back to her, "Now it's like the movies, you put your arms around me."
I could sense her hesitation but she did, her soft hold around my abdomen felt welcoming. "You should hold tighter if you don't want to slide off."
She took a breathe and tightened her hold, I won't lie and say it didn't trigger an eruption of butterflies, because it did.
As the motorbike roared to life Ava squeals behind me "If you kill me, I will come back to kill you."
I'm sure she could feel the laughter as I tensed up. We drove down the dual carriage way, her grip became tighter around me, not that I minded. I never had a girl on my motorbike so I know this is experience for her and also for me.
The cold crisp air blew through us, rustling against our coats, chilling our bones. As I started to drive through a 60mph zone, I lean back slightly and shout to her "Hold tight sweet cheeks."
She dug her helmet into my back as if she was bracing her self. I fiddle with the accelerator and the motorbike shoots forward, I can't help but laugh as the squeals from Ava's mouth. She laughed as if she had something stuck in her throat, dorky and adorably cute.
I don't know why I found myself laughing so hard, but all of the sudden, I couldn't stop. My breath came in quick gasps between my unstoppable giggles. Tears gathered in the corners of my eyes, threatening to spill over.
I slow down as we reach the hospital. Her hold ungrips me, a sense of detachment presenting itself where she was holding me.
I jumped off the bike, taking my helmet off, I wipe the tears from my eyes, with a big smile plastered on my face, I help her off.
She takes her helmet off "That was something else." She snorted as she let out a giggle.
I scratch the back of my head when I realised that I had a pure laughing outbreak.
"Well you're here now."
She looked behind her where the hospital was, her mood slowly fades.
"Yeah thanks for that." She shifted on her feet.
"You have a nice laugh by the way." Her contagious smile made me melt slightly.
"Thanks I guess."
"You should smile more often, Elliot. It suits you." She came up to me and planted a kiss on my cheek, her warm lips feel soft against my cheek. I fight the urge to grab her face and kiss her.
She started to make her way into into hospital and something within me made me call out her name.
"Ava!"
Her golden locks swings back "Yes?"
"Do you uh, want me to wait for you, to give you a lift back or something?" I scratch the back of my neck again, I need to stop feeling nervous.
Man up.
She paused for a moment and then nodded with a grin "Sure thing, I could do with another ride." I chained in my bike and made my way inside with her, I felt nervous; as an unfamiliar feeling settled into my chest every time I looked at her.
