The Grass Type is Always Greener

"This tree is huge!" said Aria as they all climbed to the top.

"I know," Yume agreed

"You guys made it!" said Mikuru who suddenly appeared

"Hey! We wouldn't miss it," said Subaru

"So ... I don't want to sound rude or anything, but why are there so many people here?" he asked "How many people came here for a battle?"

"Two," said Kanata "The rest of us are just friends,"

"Oh, so are you and Yume battling?"

"No, me and Subaru!" said Yume, almost jumping on his back. "And ... this is weird, but could we battle together?"

"Like, at the same time?"

"Yeah, is that a no?" Subaru asked

Mikuru paused to think about it, then she smiled. "Sure, I guess, why not?" They all beamed "Now come on, let's get this party started!"

"Alright!" said the judge "It will be a two on two battle,"

"Two on two?!"

"The gym leader Mikuru will have two, and the challengers will both have one!"

"Think you can handle it?" Subaru asked

"I can if you can,"

"And I can if you can,"

"I've never seen a gym battle before!" said Maria from the sidelines. "At least, not in real life,"

"It would be nice to see those two in action," said Rei

"I wonder what we'll see," said Nozomu

"Yume! Subaru! Good luck!" said Aria

"Yeah, good luck," added Kanata

"Skiddo! Lilligant! Come out!" said Mikuru and her Pokémon came out.

"Fennekin I choose you!" said Yume

"Pachirisu we need you!" said Subaru

"Alright, Battle Begin!"

"Use Flamethrower/Discharge!" The fusion moved charged at Mikuru's Pokémon

"Dodge it please," In a flash they were gone and the move exploded when it hit the ground. "Now use Charge and Solar Beam!"

Skiddo started to use Charge and was heading straight for Fennekin and Pachirisu. "Dodge it!" they said. The two Pokémon jumped in the air, avoiding the Charge but heading right into the Solar Beam attack. Lilligant blasted them off their feet.

"Is that all you two got?" Mikuru asked

"Not even close!" said Yume "Fennekin, use Scratch on Lilligant!"

"And Pachirisu use Discharge of Skiddo!"

"Skiddo use Vine Whip and Lilligant use Sleep Powder," When the two Pokémon got close their opponent attacked. Pachirisu was thrown into the air with Vine Whip then tied up in it. And Fennekin was put to sleep.

"Fennekin!" Yume cried "Fennekin wake up! WAKE UP!!!"

"Looks like I'm gonna win this one," said Mikuru "Double Solar Beam," The two grass types started to soak up the sun, getting ready to attack. Fennekin was no closer to waking up and it looked like Pachirisu was running out of air. They needed to do something.

"Pachirisu use Discharge! Give it everything you got!" called Subaru

"Chi - pa! " His partner said in response.

BOOM!

Lightning was everywhere! It didn't just shock Skiddo but also Lilligant and Fennekin. Aria was so scared she hid.

When it was over Skiddo released Pachirisu and Fennekin was awake! "Fennekin!" Yume cried "You're awake!"

"Fen "

"Now use Flamethrower!"

"Lilligant use Protect!" Fennekin attacked but Skiddo and Lilligant were protected. "Now use Petal Blizzard!"

"Use Light Screen!" Same thing but in revers and with a Petal Blizzard.

"Alright! Double Solar Beam! Powerful! I need a lot of power!" The two Solar Beams combined and it destroyed the Light Screen. "Now Use Leech Seed and then Razor Leaf!" Fennekin and Pachirisu were tied up and then freed/attacked with Razor Leaf.

"Now Skiddo use Charge on Pachirisu! Lilligant use Sunny Day on Fennekin!"

Yume started looking around for something to do. "Use Light Screen!" Fennekin dodged the Sunny Day then attempted to protect Pachirisu with Light Screen. She failed.

BANG!

Fennekin was blasted into the air and crashed down onto the ground. "Fennekin!"

"Oh no!" Maria gasped

"Lilligant use Solar Beam," said Mikuru

"Fennekin! You need to get up! I know you can get up!" Yume cried

"Pachirisu go help Fennekin!" said Subaru

"Vine Whip!" As Lilligant was charging up her Solar Beam, Skiddo tied Pachirisu up in it's vines.

"Please! Get up!" Hearing her trainers voice, Fennekin was able to stand up.

"Lilligant! "

Lilligant unleashed Solar Beam and it hit Fennekin. But she wasn't blasted away, instead she walked thru it! She walked and walked and started to glow.

"Fennekin?"

Suddenly Lilligant was blasted away and the Solar Beam was gone. So was Fennekin.

"Braixen! "

"Fennekin ... you evolved!" Yume beamed

"Did it learn any new moves?" Subaru asked

"Let me check," Yume took out her pokedex. "Whoa! She did! Ahem, use Psychic!" Braixen started levitating Lilligant and Skiddo in the air.

"Pachirisu use Electro Ball!"

BOOM!

"Skiddo and Lilligant are unable to battle! So the victory goes to the challengers Yume and Subaru!"

"Yes!"

"We did it!"

The two high5ed and Mikuru put her Pokémon in their balls. "You two were great, get some rest," She started to walk over to the two friends. "You fought well, I'm proud to give you these: The Flower Badge!" It was a beautiful badge shaped like a blue and white flower.

"Thank you!"

"Braixen! "

"Chi-pa! "

"You two were awesome too," said Subaru as he hugged his partner.

"And I can't believe you evolved Fenn - er - Braixen," said Yume

"Brai! "

"That was amazing!" said Maria as she ran over to Yume, embracing her in a hug.

"You two did very well," said Rei

"You know what's next after this, right?" Aria asked

"Yep, our Showcase and I'm not going to loose,"

"We'll see about that,"
