"Shit." Lucy trips on another box and catches herself, huffing at it. "I didn't realise you were serious about moving until now."

"Seriously?" I chuckle, wiping my hands on my shirt.

"Well, yeah. You love it here and Van City is amazing but it's really far away." Lucy seems worried, her finger twirling around a piece of hair.

I roll my eyes. "There's nothing for me here Luce. My father is done with me, I don't have a job or a decent flat. I'm ready to go."

"Fair enough." She dusts her hands off, helping me move a few boxes around. "When was the last time you even went to America?"

I think back, my eyebrows furrowing. "At least..two years? I went to visit a friend."

That friend was Ryan, who I still try and maintain some contact with especially after his accident when he literally lost everything.

He shut everyone off, including his fiancé and didn't really have anyone left. It made it hard to talk to him but I perused, knowing he'd eventually come out the other end.

He was on the news a week or so ago for that footballer segment and he's opened a new company. Hopefully he'll want to see us when we drop by since he's only twenty minutes from the city.

"That Ryan guy?" Lucy asks, frowning. "The one that had the accident?"

"That's the one. I'll probably go to see him on Thursday."

We start to carry the boxes outside, Lucy balancing a lamp on top of hers.

"Invite him out with us on Friday or something. We need to go out." She calls over the boxes, dangerously wobbling near the pavement.

I take the lamp off her. "We do?"

"Uh yes. We just moved there and I'm certainly not staying indoors! Besides, the city will be full as there's a huge show there this weekend." Lucy seems excited, practically throwing the boxes down. I roll my eyes.

"I know, Ashley texted me. She's there too remember." I nudge her shoulder and she lights up a little, grinning.

"Really?" But her smile falters moments later. "We can't see them both at the same time can we?"

"It's hardly like is a restricted visit Luce. We're going to live there." I chuckle, picking up more boxes. She rolls her eyes.

"I know, it just would've been cool for us all to meet on Friday." She shrugs and helps me again.

My phone bings and I pull it out, scanning the screen in surprise. Ashley, for the second time today which is highly unusual considering how busy she is.

"Here's the list of good spots Lucy wanted!"

I smile and tuck it back in my pocket, making a mental note to reply later. Typical Luce.

I sigh, picking up yet another box. Three boxes down, a million more to go.

(**two days later**)

The apartment is great, or it will be once it has furnishing according to Lucy.

While the damp spots on the roof aren't exactly enticing, the view is pretty damn awesome. We're right on the border of the city, the traffic whizzing by us and the lights shining into our living room so brightly we barely need a lamp on.

"Isn't this the best? We're near this cute little market too! And this cafe and.." Lucy's voice rattles on as I keep my eyes on the towering skyline.
