“Why won’t you let me fight?” Bandit pressed. Anthony and Jacob were starting their fight when Bandit turned and questioned my motives for this competition. Anthony had gone against Alicia before and even though she did work more on not making direct cuts to her opponent, his shield and mind reading put him at an advantage. Though at times there were many close calls, Anthony was the one who came out victorious, when Alicia encircled and cornered him he took her jumpy exterior and thought process against her ending it when she dashed at him, At the last second Anthony caught her throat in his hand and raised her up into the air gently placing his jaw upon her neck.
“Because,” I slowly turned to her, crossing my arms and shaking my head.
“I will not let you go against Austin and Ramon, I know how you are against humans. If you can’t act civilized you cannot fight with us. I will not put my pack in harms way.” she scoffed and shook her head.
“Pack? When did humans get the right to join wolves and be equal to us? They are nothing to us, they are dirt!” she hissed. I let out a sharp breath, Shaking my head, I turned back to the tournament.
“This is what I am talking about, you’re impulsive, you can’t keep your mouth shut. I don’t want anyone from my pack harmed because you have a wanting to avenge those of your family who died by human hands. But my people, my pack, the ones I have to care for are not the ones to blame for this. I had one of my people read up on your little family history, and it is quite interesting. Now after this soiree, we will go back to my office and have a little chat. Tell no one about what we have talked about, and I might let you stay. You must gain my trust before you get to fight against my people, just like your pack had to do.” I returned my attention back to the fight right at Anthony and Jared stood completely still, staring directly at each other, Jared trying to attack the others’ emotions while Anthony got into his mind and raised his shield up to stop the attacks. Anthony had a small smirk on his face as time went on, staring Jacob straight on and not flinching a bit. I could tell that Jacob was using a lot of his power due to the vein on his neck that was popping out, with the amount of pressure he was putting on Anthony, that is if Anthony wasn’t so powerful, should’ve been able to kill Anthony already. Then it happened, what we have all waited months on, Jacob broke. His mind left the depressed state it was in and surged with power. There was a ripple in the air as his mind built up more and more. At that second he let out a loud shout and all of his power went shooting into Anthony. Anthony’s body froze up, going stiff, his muscles were all clenched and his head was turned to the sky. His eyes were huge and dilated, his hands staying clenched as fists. His body shook and trembled, no words came out of his mouth as he faces his worst fears. Then it was over, Jacob and Anthony both dropped to the ground, panting to get their breathing back to normal. Anthony finally stood up after many shaky attempts, limping over to where Jacob’s body laid. He grabbed a hold of Jacob’s neck, Jacob was now too exhausted to fight back, so he hung there limp and looking back into Anthony’s glare with worn out eyes. His eyelids slowly fell and that’s when Anthony decided, he slowly placed his jaw beside his hand atop of Jacob’s throat. Slow claps were heard as everyone was taken aback by what they just witnessed. Jacob had finally found his potential and every one of the wolves saw how much of a danger he could be. Grant cleared his throat, causing everyone to turn their attention to him.
“Let us call this an end to our outing.” he began only to be interrupted by Jared.
“No! We have to see who is the best. One last fight, between dear sweet Anthony and I.” he sneered the last bit, a humorous glint in his eyes.
“Everyone is exhausted. The best thing would be for us all to get some rest and finish this another night.”
“No, we will finish it tonight! We cannot see who holds the strongest power if we rest, it has to be after we have both fought our hardest and then we fight again.” Jared interrupted a second time. Then turning his attention to me he smirked.
“Plus, a true leader would not give up because of exhaustion.” he sneered to me. I growled lowly, starting at him when I felt Grant put a hand upon my chest, pushing me back. He shook his head quickly before addressing Jared.
“A true leader knows when it’s okay to give up for the better of the pack, not just for himself.” Grant stated calmly before nodding to the rest of the wolves to start heading back. Anthony went over to help Jacob up and started to walk towards the edge of the clearing when Jared grabbed a hold of his shoulder and pulling back, throwing Anthony back into the center of the clearing. Anthony hit the ground with a loud thud, I took off toward him, only to be stopped by Jared.
“Why don’t you let your boy toy fend for himself for once, mate.” his eyes glinted angrily. He rested his hand on my shoulder, causing my anger to burn even more so.
“If you want to fight someone, fight me!” I seethed. He clicked his tongue, shaking his head.
“No no no, see that just won’t do. Where’s the fun in that?” he questioned. I glared at him but stood my ground.
“You want to show your power, see if you can beat me.” with that I continued walking to the middle of the clearing, bending over to grab a hold of Anthony’s arm, helping him up and back over to the other wolves. As Grant grabbed Anthony from my hands, bringing him to his side, I felt a sharp pain in my right arm. I turned to see Jared, now in wolf form, with his teeth sunk deep into my right shoulder. He whipped his head back, sending me flying through the air before crashing back down to the hard grassy ground. Jared came over to my body and grabbed for my neck when I shot my hand out and grabbed a hold of his muzzle. I threw him across the clearing then, changing into a wolf, ran after him. Once I got to him he was already back on his feet. He gave me the deadliest glare and positioned himself closer to the ground. Then with a low howl, he sent a wave of electricity surging through my body. Wave after wave went through me as I twitched helplessly on the ground, three more shocks overtook my body until I felt no more. I was surprised by the lack of pain and looked up to see Anthony standing over me, body frozen and muscles clenched, as pulses of electricity surged throughout his body. I howled to him, attempting to reach him before his voice interrupted my movements.
“Finish this.” he sounded so weak and broke, it only took one look from his pleading eyes and I was barreling myself towards Jared. I came at him full speed, knocking him to the ground and before he even had the chance to move, my jaws were around his neck. I gave a slight squeeze, just enough to draw some blood before letting go and stepping back. Changing back into a human I leaned closely to him and whispered in his ear.
“Don’t ever try that again! I am the alpha here, not you.” with that I left him there, as I picked Anthony up and headed back to the dorm, with the others close behind.
