I bursted through the door, carrying Anthony in my arms. I set him on the couch and held his face in my hands.
“How are you feeling?” concern filled my voice and eyes as I looked him over.
“Like a million bucks.” he came back with chuckling quietly before a fit of coughs overtook his body.
“Can someone get him some water?” I called out to no one in particular. I pulled him up slightly so that the air could get back into his lungs, trying to not touch any parts of his body that may be sore from the electricity. Michael handed over the glass of water as he stared down at Anthony’s shaking body, his face saddened as he started down.
“Do yah think he’s gonna be getten through this?” Michael questioned quietly.
“I don’t know.” I answered sadly. Grant walked over to us and set his hand on my shoulder.
“I haven’t told many people this, because I don’t use it all the time, but my power can save him.” I looked up at Grant in disbelief.
“How?” I questioned urging him to continue.
“Well, I control the shadows and the darkness. It’s called Moon Fire, I don’t use it very often because it starts to control you if you use it too much. But I can save Anthony, I’ve done it before.” with that Grant put his hands on Anthony’s chest, Michael and I moved away to give him more room. Grant looked up to the ceiling as a dark cloud covered the room, his eyes going pitch black. Anthony started to glow as Grant moved his hands around, placing them on burned and punctured areas of Anthony’s body. After doing this for a little while longer, Grant’s eyes went back to normal and he sat back, removing his hands from Anthony's chest. It was quiet and unsettling as we all waited for Anthony to make some kind of movement. After ten excruciatingly quiet and painful minutes nothing had happened yet. Grant moved himself in the corner, beating himself up thinking that it was all his fault.
“It should have worked by now,” he whispered, tugging at his hair.
“What did I do wrong?” Lindsey moved to stand over him, placing her hand on his to stop his aggressive tugs.
“Do not blame yourself. It not your fault. It cannot work all times.” Lindsey tried reasoning with Grant only to have silence answer her. I placed my hand in Anthony’s, squeezing it a few times. Just when everyone was about to go make funeral plans, Anthony’s hand squeezed mine and then he was coughing, trying to sit up. Everyone jumped up and started bustling around, grabbing water and hugging each other, as we helped Anthony regain his breathing.
“I feel like I just got hit by lightning!” he groaned, dropping his head into the crook of my neck. I chuckled quietly, carefully wrapping my arms around his body, holding him closer to me.
“C’mon let’s go to be.” I whispered in his ear, grabbing his hand and leading him to our room. I helped him out of his clothes and into our bed. As I got under the covers, he pulled me against him and began kissing my neck and chest. I pulled him up and gave him a quick kiss on the lips before turning back to my side. Anthony huffed and grabbed a hold of my arm again, trying to pull me to him once again. When that didn’t work, he swung his leg over me so that he was straddling my stomach. He leaned down, cupping my face, and kissed me hard on the lips. I grabbed a hold of his sides and rolled us over before disconnecting our lips once again.
“I don’t want to hurt you.” I whispered, causing Anthony to scoff.
“Stop treating me like a broken toy, because I’m not!” he said angrily. He turned on his side, away from me, facing the wall. I placed a kiss on his shoulder slowly.
“I’m sorry. I just got you back, and I don’t want to lose you again because my hormones got the best of me.” I whispered sadly before turning away to stare up at the ceiling. A few minutes later Anthony turned over and burrowed himself along my side, his face on my chest.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t think about that, thank you for caring for me.” he kissed my chest slowly. I weaved my fingers in his hair, slowly running them through. Seconds later I felt his breathing slow down.
“I love you. “I said to him as he slept. I soon fell asleep, with my hand in Anthony’s hair and his body next to mine.
