Leo’s P.O.V.

I looked at Jess as she was busy cooking in our kitchen.  She had been around for a while now and today was Christmas Day.  She was complaining about how she had no gifts to give us because she had no money so she said that breakfast Christmas Day she was going to cook.  I watched quietly sitting along side my brothers at the table waiting patiently.

She was humming a song I didn’t know the lyrics to but I had heard her humming it before at night when she missed her parents.  The Shredder had killed them.  With her golden blonde hair, icy blue eyes, and her perfect smile it never showed that she was sad.

As she finished the meal, strawberry and banana french toast.  She said she had had it before at some place called I-HOP before she moved to NYC last Christmas.  I watched her as she sat the plate down in front of me, she glanced at me and smiled.  Something stirred in my gut and I looked away quickly blushing though I knew not why.

Jess was very attractive but she hadn’t shown any signs of liking me so I had decided to hold off before I said anything to her.  I’ve been holding out for a few weeks now and I feel like I can’t take it anymore.  I don’t know how Donnie has done it with how he feels about April for so long.

We all dug into our meals I watched Jess as she ate.  She paused after her first bite and looked around.  Something changed in her eyes, she stared off into space and I watched as a tear fall.  She stood quickly and ran to her room.

“What do you think Jess is doing?”  Mikey asked.  I knew he hadn’t seen the tear.

“I don’t know I’ll go find out,” I said standing.  Anybody could have left to follow her.  I wanted to because I realized that I should just take a chance, after all it was Christmas.

“Jess?” I knocked on her door,” Jess I know you’re in there and I saw that tear, please let me in…”

She opened the door and I could see the tears falling freely now. “I’m sorry Leo...I just...The last time I had that meal was with my parents and I...I….” she began to cry.  My heart throbbed at the sight.  I took her into my arms and shushed her.

“Jess,” I said resting my chin on her head.

“Yeah,” She sighed out.

“I love you…”

“Leo?”

“Yeah?”

“Kiss me,” her request was simple.  I bent down slightly and brought my lips to hers.  Her lips tasted like tears and strawberries.  She wrapped her arms around my neck and pulled away.

“I love you too Leo, I have for a long time,”

I smiled at her and planted a quick kiss on her lips tasting the strawberries again.  She giggled slightly, “What?” I asked

She pointed above our heads and hanging from the ceiling was a branch of mistletoe.
