The court settled as the King stalked up to his throne, crown as black as the night sky, with small star-like glimmers flaring in the light as he turned to survey his subjects-his people. His jet black attire, from his jacket and pants and polished boots, outlined his muscular physic in a fitted manner that said nothing of weakness, but raw power.

As he reached his throne and sat down, he lazily stretched out on the cold iron throne atop the dais. The picture of boredom and mild amusement, and arrogance- pure male arrogance.

Meeting every eye, and scanning every face, Adrian smirked, making sure his face held no hesitation or fear, asserting himself amongst his people.

Some stared right back, flinching, others looked away, shaking in fear.

Finally moving his weighted gaze to the closest man standing just next to him, as he said to the awaiting court, "Resume Court," his powerful voice carrying to every corner of the room, deep and bored.

Almost as if released from his grip, all around, people buzzed back to conversation and gossip as any court would.

Hand positioned under his chin, the King asked his Royal Adviser, "Anything interesting, Will?"

Will stood tall, chin up and eyes cleared, only a few years senior to Adrian, and a close friend at that.

Clearing his throat, Will started.

"Adrian,  Alpha Archer has arrived and will be waiting for you in the study. Do you need me there with you?" He offered.

Adrian only closed his eyes a moment and huffed out a breath of air in annoyance.

"No need, Archer's an old fart. Probably here to ask for more funds for whatever the hell kind of excuse he has this time. Send him back, and tell him it's about time he pass on his title to his son, Richard." Adrian waved off.

It was the usual work that didn't need much of Adrian's time something his adviser could have handled. No need to bother.

It took all of Will's patience not to sigh loudly.

"Adrian, Alpha Archer told me he's here on regards of a broken rule."

Adrian's eyes slowly opened. The only amount of surprise he'd ever allow his features to show.

A howl of laughter reverberated throughout the court room, yet no one dared to pause and inquire, though surely every ear tuned into the sudden change in their King's attitude.

"About time something interesting happened. I've been wanting to punish someone lately. Give me the details, Will." Adrian demanded as he began o get up from his seat.

Slightly more at ease, Will proceeded:

"Alpha Archer has brought with him a human who has somehow managed to bypass our wards and enter Verlas."

Adrian said nothing for a few moments, contemplating the interesting information.

When the King finally stood, he nodded almost imperceptibly to Will with finality, as if coming to a conclusion of some sorts.

"Well, let's go meet this human- this rule breaker, shall we?" With a smirk, and a dark glint in his eye, Adrian exited the numb festivities of court, and strode with Will just a few paces behind.

I'm not sure how long I'll make each chapter, probably more than this though!
