Fudging fudge cakes I'm screwed!
I legit just finished escaping, only for the Leader guy to pop in for some visit?!
Groaning internally, I skim my brain for ideas in any way to escape my situation only to come up blank.
Until the voices became more clear, that is.
"Before we see our surprising guest, I want to know if you've informed the King?" The man who I assumed was Alpha Archer inquired. If I heard right, it was almost as if he was hoping someone hadn't told this 'king' about me yet.
Whether or not I should be relieved quickly vanished as the guard answered,"Yes, we sent a report to the King as soon as we found her."
My small hope was immediately crushed. It would have been easier if this so called 'King' didn't know I existed.
A cold shiver that crawled down my spine at the mention of the 'King', which was a bit worrisome. My body reacted instinctively.
I strained my hearing to gleam more but was only greeted with silence; then footsteps.
My hands clenched into fists against the stone walls in anticipation more than fear.
My thoughts were coming in as fast as they could trying to pry out some half-assed plan to get out of here.
As if it clicked then and there, a plan snapped into my brain. I'd not always been known with quick thinking, but this was just lucky.
Finally, as if on que, only a lone soldier, along with an older man with peppered hair waltzed down the stairs. Black and sleek armor along with lavish robes and garments greeted my vision as they walked down.
The man who was dressed richly- which by process of elimination just had to be Alpha Archer- looked around in great distaste.
"Now I remember why I don't come down here. It's hideous. Full of rat's piss and whatever unknown trash this cress pit holds." He flicked his hand dismissively while looking to the bored and eye-rolling soldier besides him.
"Alas, as this is a special circumstance, with having this country's first ever humans in how many centuries? Five? Well, I just had to see for myself! First a male, and now a female? What an unexpected surprise!" He seemed besides himself in excitement.
"If only the make hadn't landed in Kaden's territory...." He trailed, which I barely strained to hear.
Was he talking about Tyler, or is this dude just playing me?
I joined in on the eye rolling. This guy was a real piece of work, whoever put him in power must have been equally as bright. My mind instantly drifts towards the idea of another old guy, a twin to the old man here, sitting on a throne and shoving cake down his pipe in front of starving people. Wow, not sure why my thoughts turned a bit dark there, but okay.
It made me feel slightly angered towards this King I never met.
Obviously this snowflake of a man feels he's above everyone and that common people are just some spectacles.
And suddenly I was feeling angry and impulsive. My usual self was starting to kick back into place as the strong urge to kick ass and take names slowly began to over take me. I've had enough of authority abusing their roles- goodness knows, I know what people like this Archer guy are like. And nothing pissed me off more than someone looking down on others.
Scraping my plans and quite possibly my future, I finally decided to make the worst possibly plan set in place.
And I was ready when shouts of surprise came from the man and soldier at an empty cell.
