Chapter 4- The Red-Haired Boy

The next morning, Kruv got up very early, about 5 in the morning. No one was up yet except for his father who was already standing at the door waiting for him. 

"Take a bath and then we'll go." Daemyn said.

Kruv rubbed his eyes and slowly started to walk towards the river, he also brought a set of new clothes with him, short pants and a plain shirt. 

When Kruv was in the river, he tried to summon his innate ability. Nothing happened, he couldn't do it. He expected that because he hasn't even tried to gather world energy yet so he'd expect he's very weak right now, like a toddler in the world of innate abilities.

He went back home and placed his old clothes in a basket where used clothes are put and washed by Oved's wife, Ila.

After that, they went on their way. It was just the two of them, Kruv  and Daemyn. Kruv didn't know where they were going but it was far, or at least that's how he felt as they ran towards their destination.

"Why are we running?" Kruv asked while panting a little bit. They had already ran for about 20 km. He felt that he wouldn't be this tired if it was just him but his father was running really fast and he had to keep up.

"This is training." Daemyn replied while smiling.

After running for about another 30 km, they arrived at their destination. It looked like a town but Kruv couldn't really see that much as there were 3 meter walls enclosing it. The entrance was wide enough to let 2 carriages pass at the same time. In each side, there were people who looked like guards bringing spears.

There were actually already plenty of people going towards the town despite it being early and there were also a few carriages going in.

Kruv and Daemyn lined up where people where supposed to enter. There were about 30 people in front of them.

As they got closer, Kruv could hear the guards shouting "No weapons unless you are registered in the Savior Association."

"What's the Savior Association?" Kruv asked looking at his father.

"You'll find out later." 

Finally, they got inside and what Kruv saw was a town, very similar to a town in his previous life. There were merchants, a lot of them, selling on the streets and there were inns, clothing stores, weapon stores, restaurants and many more.

Daemon led Kruv to a building where a lot of people where lining up. There were about 60 people but It was all adults with kids who seemed to be his age. As they lined up, Kruv noticed that the line was moving really slowly.

"Can I roam around a bit?" Kruv asked 

"Sure but don't go too far and don't take too long."

"Okay."

As Kruv walked away, Daemyn suddenly called out to him.

He paused then turned "Yes?"

Daemon took a small sack from his pocket "Take this."

Kruv looked at what was inside the sack and he was surprised. There were at least 10 pieces each of gold, silver and copper coins. One of the things Kruv has learned so far was that the money was the same from his past life. 100 copper is 1 silver and a 10 silver is 1 gold.

Kruv went on his way and started walking around. Truthfully, he hadn't eaten yet so he was kind of hungry.

"Hey, you guys need to stop eating so much or we'll run out of business." 

Suddenly, Kruv heard arguing not far away from him. He went closer and what he found was a boy, about the same age as him selling food. The boy had brown skin, black eyes, and medium length wavy red hair.

"Welcome, welcome." The boy exclaimed as he saw Kruv heading towards him. 

As kruv was now in front of the stall, he could see who the boy was arguing with. It was three fat kids around the age of five and they were taking away food by the second from the store.

"What would you like to have, mister?" The red haired boy acted like he was a professional, like someone who's been a merchant for a long time.

Kruv looked around the store and something caught his eye. It was orange balls, small enough to fit in the hands.

"What are these?" Kruv pointed out.

The boy looked at where he pointed at "Oh these? They are my original creation. I call them quack-quack. It's eggs covered with something wonderful and they're really good."

"I'll try one then." Kruv took one and was instantly amazed. It was good, really good. There was a soft layer which pleases the mouth and the eggs were just amazing.

"Wow." Kruv blurted out.

"Ohoh, you liked it huh but that's not all, try dipping it in this sauce here."

Kruv did as he was told and dipped a second one on the transparent looking sauce with what looked like pepper on it.

"That's even better, wow!" Kruv exclaimed again.

"Glad you liked it, mister."

"This was your creation?"

"Yes, it certainly is."

"Do you have any other creations?"

"Heh." The boy smirked at the question and pulled something out from a basket. It was bread, two round bread pressed together but in the center, there were some kind of meat, cheese and coleslaw "This one I just invented recently, but I feel like this will be a big hit. Try it."

Kruv received the food and tasted it "Holy shi-" he was about to curse when he realized he was in front of a kid "This is phenomenal, I've seriously never tasted anything like this."

"Well thank you so much."

Kruv suddenly took 3 gold coins from the sack and gave it to the boy "Your food is incredible, I'd love to have it again sometime."

The boy looked surprised by the big amount this kid who looked to be about the same age as him give "Wow, this is too much. I can't take it."

The boy tried to give it back but Kruv suddenly took another gold coin and gave it to the kid "Every time you try to give it back, I'll add another gold coin."

"Okay, okay, I'll take it. Thank you so much mister. May I know your name?"

"It's Kruv, yours?"

"Fane." Both of them shook hands.

"Are these your brothers?" Kruv asked indicating to the 3 fat kids at the side who were still taking food from the stall.

"Yes, they are very stingy, they won't even let me run my business." Fane chuckled.

"Do you mind me asking where your parents are?"

"Oh, my mom and dad are merchants too but they are out of town right now. They went to get some supplies."

"Who's watching you then?"

"My older sister. She works right across the street in that clothing store."  

"Oh"

Both of them chatted a little bit more then Kruv said his goodbyes and walked towards a bookstore that was close to the building where they were supposed to enter.
