Bryce's POV
A whole week has past since I came home for Mikey, Lucia and Lyon. Everyday I went to the hospital, sometimes I would bring the kids, other days Linden offered to watch them. Today is one of the days where I am alone.
The staff smiled weakly as I walked down the hall way with a bouquet of white roses. I did not smile back at them, but my eyes remained on the ground as my feet took a step close to Mikey's room every time.
I opened the door to see Mikey, still lifeless and pale. I sighed, walking to the vase of the almost dead flowers. I know its silly, even our friends think it is, but I believe if I buy flowers every few days before they die, then Mikey will have some chance of waking up. But Linden is the only friend who thinks its sweet, while the rest think that its completely up to Mikey to wake up.
I took the almost dead pink tulips, putting them in the bin, then tipping out the dirty water putting fresh water in it for the roses. I put the roses on the locker beside Mikey's bed. I sat beside him with a slight smile.
"Hey Mikey," I whispered, taking a hold of his hand. Honestly, this is hard for me. Coming here everyday to see him so lifeless and have a chance of him not waking up, it kills me. I just want him to be here for me, Lucia and Lyon.
"Everything is the same as yesterday. Everyone is okay, I think this is just now affecting all of us. Lyon is even getting upset, it started this morning. Lucia has always been a little upset, but it sorta only got worse this morning." I informed Mikey as I put my head on the bed.
"Actually, I don't think everyone is okay. I think we are slowly drifting into sadness, just like we did with Kana, but this time we can't really deny it." I whispered with tears filling my eyes.
"Mikey, I really need you to wake up," I muttered after a long two minutes of silence. "It's like I am being ripped apart and I can't handle it," I muttered into the sheets of the bed.
"Please wake up."

ONE MONTH LATER
Lyon walked down the hallway of the hospital holding Lucia's hand while I held her other one, helping her walk slowly towards Mikey's room. Like every week, I held a bouquet of flowers in my hands. The nurses smiled at Lucia as she walked, earning a huge smile from my seven and a half month old daughter. Lyon was so proud of his little sister as he kept telling people, that he was helping her walk, and soon she'll be able to walk alone.
When we went into the room, Mikey was still laying lifelessly on the hospital bed, but Lyon and Lucia walked over to the edge of the bed while I took the now dead roses from the vase, replacing the water and the flowers before I sat down, lifting Lucia up onto my lap as she was standing on her tippy toes trying to see Mikey.
"Papa, when will daddy wake up?" Lyon asked me. Everyday he comes here, he asks me the same question and I will always reply with the same answer.
"Soon Lyon, soon."
But yesterday, he surprised me by turning around and looked me dead in the eye, saying "you say that everyday, but everyday we come in here, he is never awake!" I was shocked that my now five year old child spoke like that to me. But I just came up with a different answer.
"I don't know Lyon, we just have to be patient," I told him as Lucia was playing with my fingers. Lyon remained looking at Mikey.
"Was my mom like this papa?" Lyon asked me. I looked at him in shock. Not once in five years as he ever said or asked anything about Kana, he just always knew about her, but never asked questions. I patted my knee for him to sit up on. He came over and sat on it, looking at me.
"Lyon, you mom wasn't in hospital when she passed away," I told him.He stared at me confused. I remembered a conversation me and Mikey had when Lyon was just born.
- flashback -
"So what will we tell him if he asks in the future?" I asked Mikey, putting my chin on his shoulder, looking at the small baby boy asleep in a crib.
"Tell him the truth," Mikey blankly said, not taking his eyes from Lyon.
"We cannot sugarcoat it for him, just tell him how it is, but obviously simplify it if he's small and asking questions," Mikey said, put his cheek against mine. I smiled, wrapping my hands around his waist.
- end of flashback -
"Your mom and dad were at the park one day, and your mom didn't see a truck coming towards her, she decided to safe your life before her own," I told Lyon. He looked at me and then to the floor.
"So mommy is a hero?" He asked, looking at me confused. A smile came onto my face.
"She surely is, she saved a lot of people," I told Lyon, Lucia was now looking at me as I told my story.
"How?" Lucia asked loudly. I looked at her shocked. She had spoken baby words like 'dada', and 'papa' not proper words. I looked at Lyon, who was smiling. So I just smiled and looked at Mikey.
"She saved your Aunty Linden's life in away, and your dads, and somehow, she managed to save mine too," I told Lyon, who was brightly smiling.
"Was Luce's mommy a hero too?" Lyon asked me as he began to swing his legs back and forth. I smiled and nodded.
"She saved Lucia and she also completed our family, so I'd classify her as a hero," I told Lyon and Lucia. Both of them were smiling happily at the fact both of their moms were heroes.
Mikeys POV
I listened to all of Bryce's words about Kana and Lucia's mom. I tried to smile, but my outside body couldn't. I was smiling, knowing that someone like Bryce is taking care of my kids, someone who can say the truth but put it in a simple way and a way to make people happy.
God, I wish I could open my goddamn eyes and just hug them all.
Suddenly, my brain started to work properly again. Inside I began yelling to open my eyes. But like before, a bright light came towards me. I froze when I realised this was different.
A lamp shade was all I could see. And a ceiling. Did I open my eyes? Or is this just another fantasy?
