BELLE

It has been a long time since I haven’t seen her face. Pale, skinny and bloodshot eyes, which meant she had been crying for hours, she faced me with a forced happy look. My eyes begun to water watching her in a case like this but even though my sister was in a horrible shape, she turned her lips up into a smile.

“Belle, you look so beautiful today. As always.”

“…Elaine. T-tell me…what happened.”

“Let’s just say my husband dumped me for a better woman, prettier and sexier than me.” She says with a bitter chuckle in the end and simply wiped a single tear running from her right eye.

“No matter what happens, you will always be the sexiest pregnant woman for me.”

She laughed, “Stop fooling around, sis. That won’t work you know?”

I just smiled at her response when she began talking again. “Were you really dating Greyson?”

I let out an exasperated sigh. How many days did I haven’t seen him? Or merely…weeks? I don’t know. But one thing I feel is the pain and guilt joining forces to kill my conscience and heart. We’ve been pretty busy with the wedding preparation.

Finally snapping back to reality, I answered her with a curt nod. She sighed and wrapped one of her arms around my shoulders. “That was so nice of you to pick the wedding instead of him. You’re really Miss Smarty Pants.”

I gritted my teeth, “I was forced.”

“So what if you’re forced?”

“Are you already taking mom’s side? Is that what New York told you for five years?”

“Belle, you would have a more complicated life if you’re going to choose Greyson! He’s a celebrity, being admired by millions. You can’t just simply have a normal life with that guy and to think that you’re getting married to mom and dad’s business partner’s son is going to be the best for you!”

“I don’t mind. Even if we get chased by tons of paparazzi and fans, even if we do a lot of fights and even if everyone would turn their backs on us, I won’t mind. As long as I have him by my side.” I defended and walked past my sister. What happened to her? I thought she was actually supporting me and Greyson. Mom and Dad surely poisoned her mind. But it didn’t matter anymore. There’s never going to be an ‘us’ in the future.

I got in the car and our family driver drove me to an I-don’t-know place. Yes, you heard it right. They got me our family driver driving for me so I couldn’t find a way out of this shitty life and this fate I had come across. My parents thought I was going to escape and they weren’t really surprised when they found out I did it. It was already expected. It’s actually depressing knowing there’s no single chance of escaping this dreadful reality.

I looked at my own reflection on the phone screen and silently cursed about my flaws. When we finally made to a stop, I quickly got off the car and let the driver acknowledge my absence. I looked around, only to find a pathway of glowing white lights and glittering diamonds on the rough surface of the ground. This must be really a special place, a very romantic one, although it doesn’t feel good for me.

I walked a few steps towards a classic garden pavilion which the pathway was leading into. There was a tall figure, in brown leather jacket and pants, with the same brown hair as Greyson. He turned and goodness, as much as I hate to admit, he was exceedingly gorgeous.

And looked like Greyson Chance’s lost twin.

I sighed at that thought. His image won’t simply leave my mind in peace.

The good-looking stranger fixed his gaze on me, his eyes never leaving my face. Oh glob, a random yet freaking handsome guy staring at me? Do I have something dirty on my face? Or…does he like me?

Snap out of it.

I eyed him suspiciously and felt my heart hammering against my chest. He was just damn gorgeous that I just can’t resist his looks.

“Excuse me? Did you goy lost or…something?”

“You’re Belle Clint, right?”

I gulped. So…is he the one they told me I was going to marry? Snapping back to his question, I finally nodded in response.

“Great.” He grinned.

“Sorry for making you wait so long. I was caught in a small disturbing situation.” I apologized, biting my lip in embarrassment.

“It’s fine. At least you came.”.” He reassured, patting my head and added some words, “I’m William.”

“You must be my fiancé, I guess?” He replied with a curt nod and gestured me to follow him.

“Isn’t it pretty?” I only nodded. He was talking about the view. I let out a deep sigh of sadness. I wish I could bring him sometime here. He would love to take pictures of us too, if that could be possible. I know I’m getting married to another man but I can’t just simply take him out of my mind and heart. He has a special place in there.

“You can tell me what’s bothering you. Come on, I’m still going to be your husband after all.” He said with a chuckle in the end. Thank God someone could understand what I feel.

“Grey-I mean my boyfriend; I…broke up with him. I feel bad for lying and telling him that I don’t love him anymore. It would be better if I just simply broke the connection between the two of us. It hurt like hell. And worst, I couldn’t see him anymore. Like ever.” I was going to burst out in tears but I tried my very best to control my emotions and wiped the tears forming in my eyes so that they wouldn’t flow. Then I changed my tone for him not to feel bad, “But hey, I’m not putting all the blame to you.”

He turned to me and smiled, “Don’t worry. We undergo the same circumstance. The difference is that, yours is really harsh.”

“Care to share what happened?”

“Apparently, I was going to propose to my girlfriend one night but then I received a phone call from my dad saying I need to come back home as soon as possible for an urgent purpose. We finished dinner and bid our goodbyes ad I didn’t told her what dad explained to me. I also feel bad for being a secretive boyfriend who didn’t told his girlfriend that he was soon getting married to an ex celebrity full of charms.”

I laughed at the end of his speech. Then, we stayed there for some time, getting to know each other very well so it wouldn’t be awkward if we would start living under one roof. He was such a kind guy, full of smiles and positive energy. I’m glad I made friends with him

“Thanks for the ride.” I told him before stepping out of the car.

END OF POV

William watched as she enters the hotel by herself. He felt bad for her as a concerned friend caught in this awful situation. Somehow, a part of him still blames himself for what happened to her and her boyfriend. If she wasn’t in an arranged marriage with him, she wouldn’t be depressed. Then he started pressing some digits on the screen keypad, dialing the formed arrangement of numbers. A minute had passed and finally, the call was answered.

“Hello?”

“Er, is this…Elaine Samantha Clint?”

“Yes. How can I help you?”

“This is William, Belle’s fiancé. Can I meet you at...er…Nathan’s Snack House? I’ll send you the address. This is urgent. Bring your brother along with you. I’ve got something important to deal with you guys.”
