By the time Akila walked to dinner, she was dizzy with all the information. From what she'd gotten, she couldn't access her full power until she went to a place called The Lake of a Thousand Stars. It, as the name said, reflected stars in its murky depths, even though it was in a cave. She also got that it was the highest stable concentration of power in the realm, mostly because it was made up of extreme amounts of light and dark energy. She didn't exactly know what she was supposed to do while she was there, but she did know that she had to go and that she was not to tell a soul of its existence.
It also became quite apparent that everyone had an extra power in addition to their ability to transform, these varied and it could be exactly what you least expect it to be. Sai could breathe underwater, Allura could create illusions, Cameron could transform into a sort of living shadow, and Gustav could tell wether or not someone was lying.
She and Gavin were the last ones to enter the dining room, in exception of the staff carrying the trays of food. Cameron was the first to speak, "So! did you teach the duckling anything?"
"Yes." Gavin responded.
"How was it?" The boy then turned to her, "And don't be sad if you weren't able to touch your power, none of us could on the first day."
Akila opened her mouth to speak, but Gavin beat her to it. "She did, but she said that it... hurt."
Moon gasped quietly as her eyes flew wide open. Shadows reflected in her eyes.
"What is it?" The speaker was Gustav.
"No no no no." The girl said, "It's probably wrong."
"Go on." The man encouraged her
"Well, Akila was lying in a cot so she must've been injured." Moon trailed off, "But I couldn't see a wound. She had the look in her eyes of someone who perhaps went though... something... but was getting better."
"That's good then." The new speaker was Sai.
Allura asked impatiently "Can we eat already?" All this new information was fraying her nerves.

After dinner, Akila drifted up to her room. She was quite tired and honestly felt drained. Then again, she did just touch her power, by some stroke of luck or something. That meant that she actually was a Dragonborn, and she did have to stay there. Her mind swirled as dark thoughts crept out of the evening shadows.
She would maybe get to see her father again, that is if she wasn't a demon. And if she was, then she was going to make a lot of people loose hope in the crown, kingdom, and Dragonborns because if even they could be corrupted... She stopped there, harboring such depressing thoughts was really hitting her hard.
As she changed into her nightgown, she instead thought of what she learned today. She learned that there was some sort of mysterious lake. She learned that she might be a demon, and she learned that she couldn't tell a soul about it. Akila wondered what would happen to her if she did. Maybe they would kill me or something....
There she went again, thinking dark thoughts. Maybe she should just go to sleep. After all, she never was in a good mood when she was tired.
As she climbed into bed, she looked back into the grey room inside her soul. Akila was scared of it, but she figured that as long as she didn't reach inside the cell she would be fine. The blob of power still pulsed majestically behind bars, it was a mix of black, grey, and white. And though the colors were swirled together, they refused to mix.
She stared at it, subconsciously trying to will some of the gray to converge together. It slowly, as if it were a thick sludge, complied. Once a spot had formed, Akila didn't know what overtook her, but she dared to shakily reach through the bars. "Fool me once" she whispered, "Shame on you."
