**Cali's POV**

Aaron came back to school on Tuesday. I wasn't going to tell him about the whole scene with Gavin, but I could see that he saw some awkwardness between us at lunch that day. And when Aaron asked who had tutored me and I told him Gavin, he got more suspicious. After school, he texted me.

"From Aaron: come over?"

"To Aaron: sure, be right there"

I walked to his house, enjoying the nice, spring weather. Shoot, it was already spring. It was May. That means in a week or two, it would be the spring formal at school. Note to self: go shopping for a dress. I got to Aaron's house and rang the doorbell, but no one answered.

"To Aaron: yo, where are you?"

"From Aaron: backyard"

I walked around to the back of the house, and there he was, sitting on the hammock.

"Hey." I said, sitting next to him. He didn't say anything. "Earth to Aaron!" I waved my hands in front of his face. He looked down. "Okay. What's wrong?"

"Did...did something happen between you and Gavin?" He asked. He looked up and looked me in the eyes. Those eyes...I couldn't lie to him.

"Hear me out..." I started.

"I knew it. I was expecting the worst." He said. It wasn't angrily though, just sad. And somehow, that was worse.

"Aaron, listen. Hayley and Maia weren't available to help me this weekend. So I called Gavin. He's good at math. And he's our friend. I didn't expect him to kiss me..."

"He kissed you?"

"Quickly. Nothing big. He caught me off guard, and I didn't kiss him back. He told me that he was sorry and that he'd always just had a crush on me. He said he just wanted you and I to be happy..."

"I can't believe he would do that to me."

"Aaron he's your best friend. Just pretend it didn't happen. He's sorry, and it was an accident. He's an honest guy and I don't think he would ever lie to you or me." He thought for a second, then his expression softened.

"Do you believe him?"

"Yes."

"You're gonna have to make up for this."

"I like you, not him. You honestly make me the happiest girl in the world. Okay? You mean everything to me." Then I leaned and and kissed him. God, I would never get tired of this. I don't think the butterflies would ever go away.

He pulled away for a second, his lips close to my ear.

"Did you miss me?" He whispered.

"More than you will ever know."

**Aaron's POV**

I never wanted to leave Cal again. We sat there in that hammock for hours, just enjoying the warm weather and each other's company. I told her about my weekend, and she listened. Sometimes I would just pull her a little closer to me.

"Why do you keep doing that?" She giggled.

"Doing what?"

"Every now and then you'll pull me really close to you. Why?" I smiled at the question.

"Because you're mine. Only mine. I want you and everyone else to know that." I kissed her nose. I couldn't have asked for a better afternoon.

And tomorrow, I have a plan. She doesn't know it, but I've been planning it for a while. Time to set in in action.

"Hey, wanna go to the park tomorrow?" I asked her. She nodded, but her eyes were getting heavy. "You can sleep. Don't worry. I got you." I whispered.

She fell asleep in my lap with a smile on her face, and I closed my eyes too, thinking about how perfect she was and how lucky I was to be hers.
