Chapter 18

The seats where the other commanders sat during the plan's demonstration are empty. Soon, I hear some noises outside the dome. When I step out through the doors, a large crowd of people are standing below me from the stone steps. They cheer and applaud and admire my stunning outfit. The soon begin to cheer my name out in an alternate rhythm.

"Looks like they like your new look." Branock says from the crowd.

I start smiling at the crowd of soldiers and hospital patients who came out here to catch a glimpse of the "Hero".

"You look great." I hear Amelia say. She's standing right under me.

"Thanks." I reply with a smirk. I look at her blue medical gloves that match Penelope's. I guess everyone really wanted to see me and leave their positions to be out here.

"Smile, you're on camera!" I hear Jules call out. I am then looking at multiple cameras staring at me at different angles all around me.

"Soldier Bovise everyone!" Sterling yells into the speaker. I was told these series of clips were going to be shared nation wide to the rest of the rebels who are not embroiled in the Elites. Giving them hope and freedom optimism.

After that little act, Amelia walks over to talk to me.

"Hey. You look amazing. Half robot, half machine, half.... something." She laughs, making me chuckle.

I hear a psst behind me. I turn around to see Olden nod upwards looking at me and then giving me a wink. At first I couldn't make out what he was saying, but with a glare at Amelia, I knew exactly what he meant. "

"You wanna go walk or something." I insist.

"Uh- yeah sure." She says with a smile.

We walk to the end of the street, I leave my helmet and vest with Olden. Me and Amelia walk over to a small area of grass that is covered in ash. I decide this is not a good location for "private chat", so I ask Jules if I can leave the city border a little for a while. She said only half a mile.

We take a small trail to the top of a hill over the main street of Septimus. I don't know what to do or say. I never really had a real conversation with a girl as beautiful as Amelia. Her oak colored hair swaying in the sun's rays. Her green eyes shining off the clear sky.

We stop at a dried creek growing small patches of grass on the edges and around rocks.

"So?.... how's hospital duty?" I ask her kneeling down and sitting on the ground.

"It's fine. I like saving lives." She says with a bit of happiness. She sits down, her legs stretched out in front of her.

I make the move. Move my body closer to her and find her lips. This was my first time and I think I was good because she went back for another one when I retracted my lips.

"I was hoping you'd do that." She tells me when I begin to caress her cheek.

"I was going to do it anyway." I say back, lifting her bangs over her forehead.

"I feel in love with you when your brother Olden described you before you came to Septimus." She says. She moves her body right over mine. My heart begins to beat faster every time she places her hands on my neck.

"I didn't even know he was my brother but he-" I recall his story about his father and my mother and how he was abducted years ago.

"It's okay." She says calmly. When she moves her head down to find my lips, I grab her hand and squeeze it gently.

"Your so.... beautiful. I love your attitude though. When I saw you, I was frozen by your gorgeous eyes." I say.

"Well you have excellent dark eyes. And your look so fantastic as a commander." She smiles right when my alarm goes off. The beeping interrupted our romantic evening and I can't figure out how to turn it off. I stand up and tell Amelia we should return back to the rest. Some dark clouds gather up above on our way back. When we arrive outside of the Dome, each squad is gathering up together. The commander of each receiving orders from the Elite leaders.
