Chapter 24
"Commander.... is that you?" She whispers.
"Scarlet, yes it's me. Where are you?" I ask.
"I'm at your, four o'clock. I don't have a blindfold, but I'll try to turn towards you or something. Are you cuffed?" She asks.
"Yes, yes. Where am I?" I ask in the dark. I feel a chain on my legs as well. Scarlet's chair is scrapping the floor behind me. I feel the tiger tooth in my chest. Bringing back calming memories.
"We're in an alpha cell. You have been here almost two days. I have to be quick. Dorothea will be back in ten." She says. I feel her hands on the back of my head. Untying the easy knot.
The room I'm in is dark and gloomy. I rub my eyes to comfort from the tight cloth. The walls are pale and there's an empty plate in the floor. No light only from a bulb hanging from the celling. My uniform is gone. I'm wearing normal clothing, no tech, no weapons, no rescue.
"What happened to you? Where's my squad?" I ask looking around.
"On the roof, I was taken by alphas here for an interrogation. Everyone up there got killed except you guys. I don't know where your group is at." She confessed.
Suddenly the door swings open and Dorothea steps in. She stands there with a puzzled face.
"Well Commander Bovise. Your blindfold is off." Her sarcastic voice seems to echo in the room.
"Bring him in." She orders a guard. She stares at Scarlet with her snake eyes. The guards escort me down the hall to a room with two chairs and a table in the middle. Before entering, Dorothea has to give a thumbprint to the machine, that enables the door.
I am guarded by guards while Dorothea leaves for a minute, then returns with President Jery.
"Good morning sir. I see you are squadless." Jery laughs. I just stare at him silently.
"Bovise. Your little squad of yours has been captured, your idiotic brother and a lady managed to escape." Dorothea says. Alright, she's getting on my last nerve and I'm in the edge of my patience.
"Why am I here?" I ask.
"We don't know. Until all your little army is killed. You do know they rescued your pathetic family right." Announced Jery. Behind my face is a sense of relief. But these guys are probably hunting them down, so I have to do something, and quick.
"We just wanna know where they took them. All but your bestfriend Koppe." Jery beams with pure evil in his eyes.
"Where is he?" I ask abruptly.
"Okay. We'll take you there in a minute. Get comfortable twerp. Get him back to his cell." Jery demands.
I am taken back to Scarlet, she looks worse than before even though she didn't even move. I notice something in the corner while I was locked in. They release Scarlet from the chair and the guards hands us a bag of olives.
"Is there cameras here?" I ask her.
"No." She says. I then walk over to the corner and find what looks like a knife stabbed onto the wall. I yank it off and observe the sharp blade that's maybe six or seven inches long.
"We're escaping. Today." I finally say.
"We don't know what to do. I mean, the plan is, lost." She admits. I recall back to the tactics.
"We had to kill the council, right. After my family was rescued. Which they are. Except Koppe. He's held hostage or something. They're taking me there later." I say. I hear keys in the door, so I place the blade in my pocket.
"Let's go. Come come." Dorothea signals.
On the elevator, nobody speaks. We're going down, somewhere I don't know. Olden escaped with someone, they're probably making a plan to rescue me. At least I hope. This is unreal, the thought still haunts me asleep and awake. I am taken to a room, large and crowded.
Chief Hall.
The last step in the Elite's plan. The plan that has shattered, gone, unable to be followed at this point. But I can still kill all these people, but I'm alone. The chatter ends completely, only for the gasps of Koppe.
He has red marks under his eyes. Scratches on his arms and green intoxicated hair. He has been trotured. Beat violently for information of us. But he's clueless. They must of assumed him being my bestfriend can significantly allow them to find us. Only the information never came out of his mouth.
"What? Bovise...."
"No talking. Take a seat please Bovise." Interrupts Jery.
"We're done with you. You are just hurting all of your allies with your defiance." Dorothea adds. The way she said allies makes me look at her. Searching for the meaning behind her tone. The other congress members exchange looks before I speak.
"Well, this war is pretty much-" I am interrupted by Jery.
"Ended, failed, waste of lives. Cause that's the truth." He says.
"This hasn't ended. All you are pathetic. We're gonna kill all you. I don't see why you're still trying to be the imbecile devils you are." My words catch everyones attention. Even Koppe's tormented and disturbed face catches my eye.
"Everyone laugh, their leader is trying to be a clown." Annoys Dorothea. But no one even grins. She then places a cup in front of me. Blood.
"Any last works Koppe?" She mispronounces his name on purpose.
Then there is a feeling surrounding me. Like protection and guardians in the room. I feel my blade in agitation. The feeling becoming stronger as I look around and out the windows.
"You're not touching him." I say in disgust.
"Is that an order?" Jery laughs hysterically. He gives Dorothea a crossbow, aimed at Koppe's skull.
I instinctively look out the window. There's a transparent figure in the air. Fizzing around whatever it is. The Eagle. That's what it is. It can become transparent in mid air. And right now, it's outside. Armed with explosives and guns and all the hard core military weapons.
"I'm not just their leader. I'm their victor." I say.
"Oh! Mr. Bovise. I believe we told you to back down." Says Dorothea.
The arrow releases. Knocking dead Koppe onto the ground. I stand up and flip my blade, sending it straight into Jery's heart.
I fall down under the table after a missile hits. Flames exploding over the entire room. Lighting in brightness and heating the walls. I see Koppe's body lying under a fallen shelf. Jerry in the flames. I stand near the open windows, watching the bombs drop all over York. There's citizens running in the streets, they must of returned. The Eagle has revealed itself, there's actually five of them flying over the burning city. I turn around to see Dorothea aim at me with the crossbow. I jump back the very second she releases. I'm falling now. The building sweeping past me as I drop. No sound, no air, just falling.
I can see something flying towards me. It looks like a bird, with large wings. When closer, I see it's Olden. He's wearing a jetpack and flying suit with wings that allow him to soar through the air. He catches me, then lowers us to the ground.
"What!"
"I know right. There's no time. Here." He throws a gun on my hands.
"Scarlet is in there. What do I do?" I have to sort of yell in the noise of the explosions.
"Kill Dorothea." He says.
