Chapter 14 - "You disappeared last night."

Sky was walking through the main lobby when she heard her name called. She saw Jules walking her way.

"Hey," Jules said.

The main lobby was filling up as it got close to dinner time. Sky wanted to get out of there before it got to busy.

"I'm heading towards the kitchen," she said. "Are you on dinner break?"

"I am so I will walk with you!" Jules said.

The first conversation Sky had had with Jules she hadn't been sure if she really talked excitedly or if she was being sarcastic but by the end of the conversation Sky knew that was just the way she talked. She had wondered what her excited voice sounded like if her normal voice was so cheery and enthusiastic.

She had found out the second time she ran in to Jules. She had just been flirting with a hot passenger and came bouncing over to tell Sky. Sky had to drag her inside to keep the whole crowd of people from hearing Jules describe the guy.

"You disappeared last night," Jules said.

Sky knew she was up to something, Jules never talked in a casual tone. "Not really. I said goodnight to you before I left," she said. Sooner rather then later, Jules would explode with whatever she wanted to tell Sky.

"Knox Hamilton was there last night! He was hanging out with us!" Jules said.

"I know Jules, I was there. Despite popular belief, I do have two working eyes," she said in a calm voice, trying to counter-balance Jules.

"I was so surprised at first but then I started talking to him and he is just a regular guy and funny and he played a game and..."

"Again Jules," she cut her off. "I was there."

"That's what I'm saying," Jules said.

Sky was confused because she was pretty sure Jules hadn't said that at all.

"I heard from Lauren who heard from Sophie that he showed up with you and Anders," Jules said. "And you didn't say any of this to me. You just said goodnight like nothing happened and left me to find out from Lauren over lunch today."

Sky stayed silent as Jules took a breath, knowing it was better to let her finish before you started talking. "And you wonder why I think you disappeared last night? Sky Julia Bennett you are not leaving dinner until I hear every single detail," Jules commanded.

"That's not my middle name," Sky said.

Jules threw her head back in annoyance. "You know, sometimes you kill me."

"No. If I killed you then I wouldn't still have to listen to you."

"I'm only putting up with this cruel and unusual punishment because I want to hear the story. But any other time and I would walk away."

"Do you even know what 'cruel and unusual punishment' means?" Sky asked. She tried not to laugh as Jules turned to stomp off.

"Julie bear you know I am kidding," Sky said. She grabbed her hand to stop her from leaving.

"I don't know why I put up with you," Jules said.

"Because my sarcasm balances out your perkiness. We complete each other. Plus I let you eat my fries," Sky said.

"I love the fries here," Jules said, already past her annoyance and back to her perky self. "You are telling me what happened."

They pushed through the kitchen doors. "Fine," Sky said.
