An hour later, Knox said goodbye to the last girl at the meet and greet and everyone started packing up. He slowly undid his bow tie as Marcos walked towards him.
"You ready to go?" Marcos asked, trying to hide a yawn.
"Yup," he said.
"You did a great job," Andrew said. He shook Knox's hand. "Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. I must admit I am impressed by how well you dealt with everything."
"Thanks. You did a great job managing all the different pieces," Knox said, genuinely meaning it.
Andrew had smoothly dealt with any issue that had arisen. He was able to keep people calm and moving during the three and a half hours it had taken for Knox to meet everyone. Knox thought Andrew had handled everything great. But it didn't change that fact that he wished it had been Sky.
Knox's had gotten his hopes up when he thought he saw Sky walking his way before the Meet n Greet had begun, but it had been a worker he didn't know. If Sky had been there, he could only imagine the quips she would have made about the situation and the different girls. He probably wouldn't have felt so worn out because she would have made the whole thing seem like fun.
Knox had tried to keep all these thoughts from running around in his head during the Meet n Greet. But, now that it was over, and he was heading back to his room, he didn't see the point in trying to stop them.
"What do you want to do?" Marcos asked as they neared his room.
"I'm going to change and head up on deck," he said.
"You're going to go up on deck?" Marcos asked. "Isn't it pretty late?"
"Yeah, but the crew will be up there." He didn't wait to hear if Marcos had any objections before he shut the door to his room to change.
"Good luck," Marcos said, when he came out and headed for the door.
"Thanks." he said flatly. He was unsure of what he was going to find once he got there.
He followed the signs for the pool and followed the noise once he was outside. Everyone was in the same area they had been the previous nights. The fire was already down to embers. He grabbed a bottle of water from the table and searched the crowd for a familiar face.
He made passing exchanges with people he recognized but kept moving. He wanted to find someone who would have some real information on Sky. He was about to give up and join the circle around the fire pit when he spotted Anders.
"Anders," he called out when he was closer to him. Anders looked up. Knox watched his expression change when he realized who had called him.
"What do you want, Knox?" he asked, annoyed.
"Anders, you gotta help me find Sky."
"And why would I do that?"
"Because this is stupid. Last night everything was great, more then great. Then suddenly this morning she can't stand to be around me. Whatever it is, I deserve a chance to make it right." Anders studied Knox, his frown deepening.
"Anders, I don't know what you think of me, but I don't mess around," Knox said quieter. He didn't feel inclined to broadcast his feelings to everyone around. "I honestly like Sky. I thought she felt the same way. Give me a chance to clear this up."
Anders's expression softened a bit and Knox felt a spark of hope. "I might be willing to tell you where she is. But you should know that if you hurt her in anyway, my fist will gladly make friends with your face," he said. He crossed his arms, making his large stature even more imposing.
