Chapter 25 - Fairytale

Karina swallowed nervously and avoided their gaze as much as possible.

Which was hard considering they'd surrounded her.

The ladies had kicked the men out.

Literally. Actually Kayla had only kicked Daniel's butt and others just ran out in the fear of getting one.

Once the men had left, more like Lexi slamming the door on their horrified faces, the ladies all surrounded her. Including Monisha.

Monisha was by far the silent in their group. She indulged in small talks and their club nights and parties. But she was closed off.

At that moment, she was bouncing on her heels.

"Seriously ladies. I met him, we hooked up and now we are in a relationship. End of story."

"Oh no. I don't want the it was love at first sight because it never is. Out with the details." Tessa rolled her eyes.

"Okay ladies I'm out of here. I don't want to hear about my son hooking up. All I want to know is if you love him or if it's just a fling for you?  Because trust me, darling, he's in too deep." Cassandra dropped down beside her and held her gaze.

"I do like him, Mrs Hunt."

"Oh my god, you make me feel 100 years old. Call me Cass."

Kari smiled at Cass and she all but wanted to hug the woman. The only problem was she didn't know if Cass really liked her or not.

"I like him, Cass. But it's not gonna end well. Stan's dangerous. And he's already here."

She stood up and looked at the woman.

"I can't stop myself. I can't stay away from him even though I know I have to. He has this crazy notion that he wants to save me. But he cannot. Stan kills people as if they are nothing. I don't want anything to happen to him. I lo-" she gasped as the weight of what she was about to say settled in.

She loved him. She did.

And she was ready to go back to Stan if it means keeping Zach out of Stan's sight.

Stanley didn't know that she was with Zach. Yet. Once it comes to his attention, then there was no saving Zach's life.

"Look, Kari. We have a plan. Me and Cal, we'll take care of it. Don't worry. We'll catch him and then we'll hand him over to my dad for some torture. It's been ages and my dad's going all crazy whiny about how much fun it was to torture the bad guys. Once he's had his fun we'll hand him over to the cops."

"You are crazy." Monisha murmured. "Can you do that to my brother?"

"Oh honey." Kayla smiled "Stanley deserves the torture my dad wants to hand out. Now your brother, I'll be the one to deal with him. I'm a chef. I'm pretty good with knives, never forget that."

"Oh sister." Monisha smiled "I just love you crazies."

"Aww."

"Ladies focus." Cass snapped her fingers.

Kari looked at Cass. Why wasn't the woman angry at her?

"You can talk Zach out of this. He loves you. He'll listen to you."

"He loves you too."

That stunned her. Yeah she knew they were falling for each other. But she hoped not too deep that they couldn't get out when needed.

"Kari, my son can handle himself. Don't you underestimate him. He's gone through a lot of stuff. And if Zach could survive Jack, he can survive this and come out victorious."

"Who's Jack?" Tessa asked.

"It's for me to know and her to find out. Give him some time. He'll come around and tell you."

Cass grabbed her hand in both of hers and squeezed. "I like you. In fact I like all of you ladies. I'm proud of my sons. You all are family. The daughters I always wished I had."

She rolled her eyes "I don't know what is it with the Hunt sperm. I got all boys. I'd throw a huge party if it's a girl." Cass pointed a finger at Lexi's belly.

Everybody laughed and Lexi brought out the dresses.

When Tessa came out of the room downstairs, the women gasped.

The bridal dress was a beautiful backless mermaids dress with a scoop neck lace applique and long lace sleeves.

"It's so beautiful." Kayla mumbled.

"Aww thanks guys. Wait till you see the bridesmaid dresses. Now this girl picked bright yellow just to embarrass you guys. But I tinkered with it."

"Bridesmaid dresses are supposed to be embarrassing. So that the bride looks even more beautiful surrounded by ugly ass women."

"Your wedding... it's gonna be the talk of the town. And you're not just wearing a bridal dress, you are wearing Alexis Beckett. So yeah... I did what I had to."

"I'll go first." Monisha and Sydney squealed simultaneously.

Lexi handed their dress and they both ran towards the door.

Monisha was the first one to enter, followed by Sydney.

The dress was sure yellow but a little on the ochre side. The silk venus cut gown, cinched at the waist and flowed down all the way to the floor, with a slit down the mid thigh. It was the most beautiful bridesmaid dress Kari would ever wear.

"Here." She handed each of them a pair golden strappy stilettos.

"And for you." Lexi turned to Tessa with a box.

"You suffered a lot in your life. And I just wanted to give you a touch of fairytale to this wedding."

"I don't want anything. I've already got much more. You were everything I hoped and more and I'm so fucking lucky."

"I am too, Tess." She handed the box too Tessa. "Just take care of it. I had to literally scare my new assistant in getting this done on time.

When Tessa opened the box, her jaw went slack. The box almost slipped but she caught it on time.

"Oh my god. Don't do that again." Lexi yelled.

When Tessa pulled out the things inside, Kari all but fainted.

It was a pair of glass shoes. Cinderella shoes. The beautiful glass heel was a peep toe pump with 4 inch heels.

"Oh my god. It's like magic."

"It is. Tessa agreed and placed them on the ground. Before anybody knew it she threw herself in Lexi's arms.

"You're really my fairy godmother."

Lexi laughed. "Just take care of it. It's quite hectic to get another of those."

Looking at the two so happy, Kari teared up. Right now she would give anything for a fairy godmother to appear and make all their problems disappear.

Unfortunately, it just couldn't happen in real life.
