It was a beautiful morning around the third week of August and I finally received my letter for the second year. I gently petted my caramel-white colored barn owl as I took my letter from him.
"Thanks, Jinx." I said as I gave him a piece of my toast.
"Ok my dear, are you all set?" My dad, William asked my mum, Laura.
"Yes dear." she answered with her angelic voice.
"Leahna! Leahna, darling! Mummy and Daddy are leaving!" My dad called.
"I'm right here dad." I said as my mum hugged me ever so tightly that my lungs were about to burst.
"You got all your things ready for school?" my dad asked.
"No dad, uncle and auntie are going to take me and Hermione to Diagon Alley today."
"Oh, that's wonderful dear. Do you have enough money? Your father and I made a deposit last month at Gringotts, but we can give you more if you need it." my mum said with a smile.
"No, I think I have enough." I said as my dad gave me a quick hug and a peck on the cheek.
"You be good now ok? Our business trip is going to take about 3 weeks so we won't be able to send you off I'm afraid." my dad said.
"But.. you said.. 3 days? What about my birthday?" I felt a pang of disappointment, but I should have been used to that by now.
"I know my dear and we are really sorry, but something's come up with the company and it's not easy being the CEO. You know that.. and this is all for-"
"For me. I get it.." I said and looked down.
"Oh, Leahna you know your father and I love you very much. You know that right?" my mum said as sandwiched my face in her soft hands.
I nodded and my mum gave me a kiss on the cheek and they headed towards the door."We'll make it up with your birthday present dear we promise." with that they left.
I was usually at Hermione's house since my parents worked a lot. They own a big company and my uncle Wendell and aunt Monica (Hermione's parents) always told me to be thankful that my parents were so successful. Yes, I guess you can say that we were rich, but I honestly would rather have them spend more time with me like Hermione's parents do. They may only be dentists, but at least Hermione got to see them more than I saw my parents. Now they couldn't even make it for my birthday? That's going to be the 5th birthday they've missed. That's almost half of my life..
"Come on Jinx." I called after my owl and I headed upstairs to get my things.

"Did we get everything?" Hermione asked as we made our way through the crowded streets of Diagon Alley.
"We still need our books." I said as we walked towards Flourish and Blotts.
"I just can't believe Gilderoy Lockhart is our Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher this year!" Hermione said almost giddy like.
"I know! He's brilliant!" I said as we reached the bookstore.
"Al'ight girls. It's a little crowded in there so why don't you wait here while me and Monica get your books." my uncle said with a smile and they headed into Flourish and Blotts.
Hermione decided to go to the Owl Emporium. Hermione's birthday was coming up in September and she always whined that she wanted a pet..mhmm. I looked around Diagon Alley and spotted a tall, hairy man. I looked next to him and guess who I found?
