Hi guys, welcome to my new book. Each chapter will be from a different persons perspective, I will say who at the beginning of each chapter. Enjoy :)

POV: Mike

"Remember, meet me here after school. When the clock says 2:45 then walk up here and meet me out the back of the school, ok?" I say to Eleven.

"Promise?" she says.

"Promise," I reply.

El gives me a hug before she walks back to my house.

It is the first day of school and Dustin, Will, Lucas, Max, Eleven and I are going to go to the arcade to try to beat Max's score on Dig Dug. Max is a very talented gamer. We are going to try to teach El how to play too. As I walk into the school hallway I see Will.

"Mike", he says rushing over to me, "thank god you're here. I couldn't find Dustin so I was all alone."

"What about Lucas?" I ask

Will rolls his eyes, "Him and Max are out the back skateboarding, they asked if I wanted to join them but...well...you know how I am with skateboarding."

I laugh, remembering the first time Will tried to ride Max's skateboard. Let's just say it didn't end well.

Will and I make our way down down the hall way.

"Ready for our first day of year nine?" Will says excitedly.

"No," I reply, "What if we don't have Mr Clark as our science teacher? Then what are we gonna do?!"

"I don't know," Will sighs, "I can't imagine doing school without him. We have science first anyway so I guess we'll find out soon enough."

The bell rings and we quickly rush off to class.

As usual, we are the first there, followed by Max and Lucas. We wait there impatiently, praying that when the door opens our favourite teacher will be standing there. Finally, the door opens
...
and standing there is
...
MR!!
...
jefferson.

We all look at each other and sigh.

"Hello boys," Mr Jefferson says in his monotone voice.

"Good morning Mr Jefferson," We all recite in unison.

"Where's Mr Clarke?" Demand Lucas.

"He is off sick, I will be your teacher for today," he replies.

He stands back to allow us through the doorway.

Mr Jefferson has never been one of our favourite teachers, it amazes me how he can have such an impossibly boring voice.

"At least we are going to have Mr Clarke at some point," Max says.

"Wow, count on Maxine to be the optimist," Will says, sticking his tongue out.

"Ugh," Max says, "I've told you a million times, it's MAX."

Halfway through the class, Dustin comes barging in.

"Sorry I'm late," he says and slumps down in his chair.

"You are excused," Mr Jefferson mumbles as he slowly writes notes on the board.

"God," I say, "you look terrible!"

Dustin a eyes were blood shot and he had dark bags under them from lack of sleep.

"What have you been doing, searching for baby monsters in trash cans again?" Lucas accuses.

Dustin comes to his defence, "Have not! Actually I've been trying to come up with a way to break the news to my mum about Yurtle."

Max bangs her head against the desk and groans. Dustin hasn't been able to shut up about his turtle, his Mum adored it and Dustin was worried that once she found out that he had lost him (or that he had been eaten by a baby demogorgon), she would take away his supercom.

"Any luck?" I say.

"Nope", he replies, "all I can think off is that he ran away. But that won't work because turtles can't exactly...well...run."

"Attention class," Mr Jefferson says, finally realising that the whole class had been talking, "If you don't stop jabbering then I will put you all in detention. I don't care if it's the first day of school and I'm not your official teacher, I will do it."

The class falls silent. Mr Jefferson continues writing his notes.

"I got it," Dustin said, "I'll say that Mews got Yurtle."

Max rolled her eyes, "Seriously Dustin, Mews is gone."

"Oh...right," Dustin said looking down.

"Just say that you got home from school one day and he was gone," Lucas suggested.

"His mum will just keep on looking for him though," I said.

"Boys!"

We looked up and Mr Jefferson was glaring at us from across the room.

"Detention...all of you!"

We looked at each other sympathetically as he wrote us detention slips on a yellow piece of paper.

"Meet me in this room at 3 O'clock this afternoon," He said sternly.
