POV: Mike

knock knock knock

El rushes to the door. She has been doing that ever since she has stayed here. I'm not sure if its because she likes answering the door or if she is waiting for Hopper to come back. I watch as she opens the door. And standing there with open arms is Hopper.

"Dad!" she cries out as she runs towards him and gives him a huge hug.

I chuckle when she says that. I think it's so cute. When she realised that adoption meant that she would have a new father she was so excited. At first Hopper told her that she could call him Papa if she wanted. But I guess that name brought bad memories to her so she calls him Dad instead.

"Hey Kiddo," he says smiling hugely.

"I'm so happy you're home."

"So am I."

El lets go and steps back.

"What happened?" she asks, pointing to a huge purple lump in his forehead.

"Oh this? It's nothing. Just someone being a bit difficult."

"Hey Hopper," I say walking towards him, giving him a hug.

"Mike. It's great to see you."

After a while of talking and catching up we go and sit down and eat some dinner.

"So how did the mission go?" Mum asks taking a sip of her wine.

"Mostly good," Hopper says, "I managed to confirm my theory, but I wasn't really able complete the mission."

"What was the mission again?"

"Oh it's complicated. Basically there was just a bunch of bad people doing bad things and I was trying to stop them."

"Bad people?" Eleven asks nervously.

"Don't worry, they are far far away from here," Hopper says.

"Okay," she sighs.

I take Els hand under the table.

"You're safe now, remember? No one can hurt you."

"You promise?"

"I promise."

She smiles at me, squeezes my hand and yawns. Her yawn has a domino affect and everyone in sitting at the table takes turns yawning.

"Well I guess that wraps this up," Mum says, taking another sip.

"Yeah. Off to bed. All of you," Hopper joins in.

We stand up and I wait for everyone to leave and soon enough it is just me and Hopper in the dining room.

"Hey Hopper?" I say quietly.

Eleven has gone off to bed so I don't want to disturb her.

"Yeah, whats up?"

"We have a problem."

Hopper sighs, "What kind of problem?"

"An alternate dimension kind of problem."

"Aaa I hate those kinds of problems. Tell me. What happened?"

"The upside down, it't breaking through the gate."

"It's breaking it?! How is that possible?"

"Dustin said that the most likely answer would be that theres not enough room to contain it. Its defence mechanism is to push through everything in its way to keep growing."

"Well that's no good is it."

"But thats not all. Nancy and Jonathan saw a girl getting dragged by the vines into the upside down. And after they saved her, she said she couldn't see it."

"Is that another defence mechanism. Being invisible?"

"I don't know. Hopper, what do we do?!"

"Its obvious isn't it?"

I shake my head.

"We kill it."

A/N Comment your thoughts on my book so far. Am I doing okay? I'm open for suggestions. Also suggest some book I could write because I really want to start a new book xx
