POV: Steve

I feel like a proud mum. Dustin, taking a girl home! Wow! I'm so happy for him. I told him that one day the girls would be all over him and look at him now. We start driving off and out of the corner of my eye I see Nancy Wheeler and Jonathan Byers sitting down, holding hands. My smile immediately fades and I let out a sigh. Through the mirror I see Dustin's concerned face look out the window, he sees what I was looking at.

"Don't worry about it man," he says.

"Worry about what," I say pretending to not know what he's talking about.

"Nancy," he says, "She'll come back to you."

I look at him through the mirror, "I think I'm better off alone, besides, we can't fix things."

I miss Nancy, I miss her a lot. She was so cute and nerdy and always had a cheeky look on her face. She wasn't like Carol or any of those other girls, she was different, she made me a better person. After we broke up I realised how much of a douche I had been, so when Dustin asked me to help him, I said yes and somehow we became friends. I  feel very protective of him, I don't want him to get hurt. People in school can be mean (especially to nerds) so I give him some advice here and there to help him and it worked! Well I'm guessing it did seeing as though there is a random girl in the back of my car.

POV: Nancy

I watch as Steve looks at me through the window of his car. I miss him but I know that Jonathan is better for me, besides he has Dustin to look after. I look over at Jonathan and smile, he smiles back.

"Jonathan!" yells a voice.

He looks over in the direction of the yell. It's his mom. He gets up and quickly runs to her car and his Joyce passes his text book through the window. I wait as they have a quick chat. Jonathan runs back to me.

"Sorry for the wait," he says.

"No, it's ok," I says truthfully, "You can't study if you don't have your book."

"Yeah."

We walk into the school and head up towards the library. We already have homework and tests coming up that we need to study for. School has gotten really stressful this year so we decided to study together. As we are walking is spot something odd.

"Jonathan," I say.

"Yeah?"

"Look at that," I say pointing to the ground.

On the floor of the school there is a large crack snaking through the hallway.

"Huh," he says,"They might need to check that out."

"Don't you think it's weird though? Surely someone should have noticed it by now."

"I guess," Jonathan says and crouches to the ground to get a closer look.

He looks back up at me concerned.

"What's wrong?" I ask.

He turns back and puts his eye to the crack.

"You might want to take a look at this," he says urgently.

I crouch down and put my eye to the floor, cupping my hands around my head to get a clearer look. Through the blackness of it I see a faint red light.

"Do you see that too?" Jonathan asks.

"Yeah. What is it?"

"I don't know, but I'm pretty sure it's not supposed to me there."

"Are you kids okay?" Asks a voice behind us.

We both quickly stand up. Staring at us with her beady eyes is the librarian.

"Um, yeah, sorry we were just..." I try to explain

"Just what?"

"We saw that crack in the ground and we were concerned," Jonathan finishes.

The librarian looks down and scans the ground, then looks back up at us.

"I have no idea what you're talking about," she says, before walking away.

I look at Jonathan quizzically.

"Did she not see it?" I ask.

"I don't know, but that was weird."

Should I do a double update?
