Chapter 4

I wake up to pots falling in the kitchen. "Damn it," I overhear my grandma say. I quickly sit up and the sun is barely coming out. I scoff and leaned back. That's when my grandma walks towards me. "Morning honey, I'm making breakfast." I nod.
"Sounds good grandma." She nods.

Time passes and we are both sitting in the dinning room table eating. She then hands me the job listings from the newspaper. I'm sorry sweetie but you need to look for a job. I can't raise you here. I nod. I was looking through the listings and I didn't find anything I could do.

I sighed. Well what I could do is just wait for the money from the divorce. That's when I sigh. I signed a prenup, I can't get any of the money. That's when my grandma laughs. "Wait aren't you going to get money front the divorce?" I sigh. "No I signed a prenup." She gasps. "What?" I nod. "Yeah I had to prove that I didn't want him for the money so..." She shakes her head.

"He's an ass." I nod. "That's not fair, let me get your cousin Robin and ask him if he can help you." I nod. "It's not fair that you spent years with his ugly ass and you don't get a single penny from that money." I sigh. "It's ok Grandma, ill just look for a job." She shakes her head.

"Well you go on and do that honey, I'll see how to get your stupid husband to give you your money." I nod as I continued to read the job listings. I read and I found a job as a waitress. I mean I can cook I can probably work there. I go to the truck and I start to take clothes out, only the ones I can use of course.

I then went and asked my grandma if she can sell the rest of my clothes. That way I can have money in case I don't get the job. I make my way to the bus stop and wait for the bus. I am honestly so heartbroken that I've gone downhill from where I was at.

I got on the bus and went to the restaurant. Luckily the manager was in need of another waitress so I got the job on the spot. The restaurant wasn't ghetto, it was a nice little Italian restaurant. I was so happy that I got the job. Maybe I can get back on my feet and continue on from here. Maybe I can go back to medical school or something who knows. But one thing I know for sure I will never fall in love again.

Weeks passed and my life was just both sunny and grey. Being a waitress isn't easy but at least I had something to do. On the other hand my stupid husband is just making more and more money, but whatever I don't care what happens to him. We've tried to get the money but being the lawyer he is he can get away with anything.

I walk up to a table and I gasp at who I see sitting there. It was the driver from the truck. "What are you doing here?" He chuckles. "I always come here." I scoff. "No I've been working for a while and I've never seen you." He chuckles. "I always come in the mornings not afternoon or evenings." I nod.

"Ok well what can I get you?" He smiles. "Coffee." I nod. "What else?" "That's it." I nod. I walk away and I get his coffee. I bring it back and place it in front of him. He smiles. "Thanks miss." I nod and walk away. Even though he seems nice I don't like him. He's seen my worst side so I honestly wish he could vanish.

Time passes by and it's finally closing time. I walk out and it's pouring. I take out my umbrella and I stand at the bus stop. Ten minutes pass by and nothing. No cars, no busses, just rain. I sigh. Aside from the water it's freaking cold. That's when an ambulance stops in front of me.

The window rolls down and I take a look inside. "Need a lift miss?" I scoff at who I see. It's that damn driver. "I can wait for the bus."  He chuckles. "Oh come on I can give you a lift." I roll my eyes. "I'm not a pervert miss, it's just you're not going to get a ride until the morning." I sigh and get in.

"Thanks." He nods. "Where to?" I give him the address and he drives off. "So what you drive trucks and ambulances?" That's when I take a look at his clothes, he's wearing a paramedic's uniform. "You're a paramedic?" He nods. "I thought..." He chuckles. "That what I was a pervert driving around women and dumping them when they get kicked out of their homes?" I stayed quiet.

"By the way what's your name?" I scoff. "Why do you want to know?" He chuckles. "Forget it." I sigh. "Why are you so defensive huh?" I scoff and rolled my eyes. "Alrighty then I'll just take you home." I sighed. Time passes by and we make it home.

"Thanks." He nods. "See you around." I sigh. "Emma." He gives me a weird look. "My name is Emma." He smiles. "Killian." I smile. "Well see you around Emma." I nod and got out. I walk up to my door and I see the ambulance drive away. That's when I see my grandma. "Who on earth was that?" I scoff. "No one." She chuckles. "It didn't seem like no one." I ignore her and made my way to the living room.

I sit down on the couch, and contemplated on Killian. He seemed nice but I can't trust anyone. He may be nice and we might casually talk but it's best to keep away. It's better to be alone than to be with a man.
