"Merry Christmas Adrian!" Lazarus rolls over and lays on top of Adrian.
"Really, again this year, have I not suffered enough? Why do have to squash me every Christmas?" Adrian groans turning his head to look Lazarus straight in the face. Lazarus has a giant smile on his face that always makes Adrian melt, even when he was just woken up.
"Me roll on you? You have no idea how many times I wake up during the night because you have rolled on top of me. I was trapped by your arms and legs!" Adrian blushes at this new information. He's been attempting to sleep on, maybe cuddle, Lazarus in his sleep? He will never live this down.
"Okay, sure, happy Christmas." Adrian Mutters letting his head fall to the side again half to hide his blush, half to hopefully fall asleep again. Lazarus of course will not allow this and grabs the other boys face.
"Wake up! Everybody else is awake! Also they might think we're up to something if we don't come out soon. Two teenage boys, alone, in bed, suspicious don't ya think?" Lazarus teases moving now he is sitting on Adrian's thighs.
"Yeah, yeah, I'm up." Adrian quickly scoots to the head board to get away from the pale boy. How is it so easy for him to just suggest something? Adrian blushes furiously as he puts on a shirt then the Christmas sweater his dad had made.
"Aw, don't be sour!" Lazarus gives him a hug from behind. Lazarus has always been a touchy feely guy, even when they were little Lazarus always found some way to be touching another person and when Adrian was around that person was usually him.
"I'm not sour." Adrian grabs Lazarus' arms and pulls them tighter around his chest to prove that he indeed wasn't sour. Lazarus liked this and decided to jump on Adrian's back for a piggy back ride.
"Let's go! Downstairs! Morning presents!" Lazarus excitedly commands holding on lightly around Adrian's neck, letting his his hands dangle on Adrian's chest.
When the two arrived downstairs (with minor injuries from crashing into walls) they are greeted with a good amount of 'morning' and 'merry Christmas'. Adrian puts Lazarus down with much complaint from the shorter boy.
Suddenly Daria comes rushing into the room form the backyard almost completely covered with dirt, broom troubles is the most probable explanation.
"Finally you guys are up! It's present time!" Daria announces rushing to the living room. the rest of the families shrug as they make their way into the living room after the energetic girl. When the families enter Lazarus takes his place next to Daria, on the ground, in front of the tree. The adults and Adrian sit on the surrounding couches.
"Go for it Daria." Lazarus' dad says and the presents are quickly passed around to the respective people. First to open the presents are Adrian and Daria's parents, who are quite impressed by the moving giraffe sculpture. Next is Lazarus' dad who marvels at the stack of thick heavy books beside him.
It's Daria's turn next and it is fair to say she was the most extravagant with the present unwrapping, wrapping paper everywhere! Next, Adrian. A nice stationary set from Lazarus' dad, A family bauble with a moving family picture on it from his family. A small long present from Lazarus.
Adrian unwraps it carefully not one for the dramatics. There is a pen. a good quality wooden one that has the names Adrian and Lazarus carved into it. Adrian loves it, the texture, being able to feel Lazarus' name when he writes. He starts to worry if the dream catcher will be enough.
Lazarus rips the wrapping paper off his gifts, a glowing star that levitates wherever you want it from Adrian's family, a matching bauble from his father but it's just them in it. The biggest gift the dream catcher. Lazarus' eyes widen when he unwraps the dream catcher, the sand colour the feathers and beads, the size. all of it perfect to him.
"Thank you, thank you." Lazarus practically jumps on the sitting Adrian. Adrian hugs back sitting up as much as he can with the other boy's weight on him.
"You're welcome, and thank you a lot for the pen it's perfect. You're really good at gift giving." Adrian speaks quietly noticing the rest of the families admiring their gifts or moving to the kitchen to continue preparing lunch.
"Christmas is my favourite time of year, I get to see my favourite family and my favourite muggle, you are honestly the best one I know." Lazarus flips so he is half sitting on Adrian's lap half laying on him.
"I'm the only muggle you know."
"False, the guy from the other day." Lazarus starts to fiddle with Adrian's hand that is wrapped around him to keep him in place.
"He doesn't count, you magic-ed him to like you or something."
"I do not need to magic people to like, I'm charming. Besides the point I can't use magic out of school, I'm underage."
"Then how do you do it?"
"Do what?" Lazarus just smirks, knowing whats about to come, it was fun up to this point.
"Charm people, have people love you and give you stuff without magic cause I sure as hell can't do that."
"What you jealous?"
"No I am not jealous, just tell what it is." Lazarus drops his hand and sighs.
"I'm a magical creature." Adrian went silent, the only magical creatures he's heard of are the one's in Lazarus' textbooks and he can't be any of those, it's impossible.
"No, you're not, I've seen picture and stuff of magical creatures, you are nothing like a hippogriff, or a goblin or a mermaid... wait are you a mermaid?" Lazarus turns around again to face Adrian. He sits cross legged on the other boys lap facing him.
"I have two legs see." Lazarus chuckles finding the conversation a lot more amusing than Adrian does. Adrian is just confused, how can the boy he has known his whole life be some sort of creature. Do his parents know about this? Does Daria?
"What are you?"
"Chill out I'm not a vampire or anything." That didn't even come to mind, what if Lazarus has been sucking blood at night, what if he was sucking Adrian's blood? Adrian reaches for his neck hurriedly feeling around for some dent, bruise, hole, mark or something.
"I just said I'm not a vampire." Lazarus grabs Adrian's hand and moves it to his lap and starts to play with his fingers again. For some reason this puts Adrian at ease, perhaps because it is familiar.
"What are you?" Adrian asks again this time more calm and with more pure curiosity in his voice, instead of confusion.
"A Veela." Adrian remembers reading about Veela's in a textbook, what did it say about them again. Beautiful, irresistible to men, can turn into a bird creature when angry, are female. Wait if Veela's are women-
"But you're a boy." Adrian states even more confused than before.
"I'm half Veela second generation. My mother was a full Veela. Full Veelas cant be boys but any generation after that it can happen it's just uncommon for someone who is before fourth generation to be a boy, I'm one of the only known two in the world currently, the other guy is third generation."
The information is a lot for Adrian to handle, it explains a lot. The dancing, the smiles, the constantly being asked out for a drink. The reason it has only been men asking him out.
"Oh."
"Oh?"
"Oh."
"Well, I'm going to see how lunch is going. You, uh, process, I guess." Lazarus climbs off Adrian's lap and heads to the kitchen.
Adrian really does try and process.
