Eleven years later...
Another worker and I were walking outside on our way back to the kingdom. I had taken the time to pick blueberries and grapes for the drink for tonight's dinner while enjoying the scenery of the ocean. Our kingdom, Eilithya, is located on a remote island surrounded by the North Pacific Ocean. The sky was a baby blue and the clouds were plush and fluffy. We along the beautifully paved pavement to a door at the back left of the palace that led to the kitchen. We decided to gather ingredients for the cooks to ensure that dinner would be on time.
The royal family was having guests tonight, other kings and queens from nearby countries in order to create alliances for trading. Today I would be attending to the Prince as I always did, I usually served him because he trusted me and always had his best interest. The cooks in the kitchens were running amuck, as they always did, wanting to make sure the dinner was tasteful and successful.
"Thanks for the berries Hazel!" Jean, the cook said as he picked up the basket of berries.
"Of course! Always glad to be of help."
"The prince sent word for you, he said to come assist him when you finish here."
Well that's my cue, I'll see you soon." I gave her a hug and hurried out of the kitchen.
The prince's room wasn't too far from the kitchen; he liked sneaking away and having midnight snacks when no one was around. I walked down the beige colored hall on the red carpeted floor with gold trimming, beautiful crystal chandeliers hung from the ceiling and shined in the sunlight. I walked past the large glass windows that gave a view of the city in the kingdom and the ocean. I turned left in the middle of the hall to a set of stairs that wound around to the next floor. I walked down the hall to the Prince's room and knocked.
"Come in!" He said.
I walked in to find him trying to decide on what garb to wear. He seemed that he was having a hard time picking between the beautifully tailored white coat that flowed behind him or the blue one with gold trimmed down its lining.
"Having trouble?" I asked as I closed the door behind me.
He turned around and once his blue eyes landed on me a smirk stretched across his lips. It was odd seeing him so grown up, his face had some facial hair now, even though he shaved it quite often and his face was more masculine. But I still see the child in him.
He smiled wider, "Hazel! Yes! Okay, so which one?"
"What kind of impression are you trying to make?
He groaned, "Impression? I just have to look good."I shook my head at him and smiled, he was such a character. "Which one do you like?"
"Try them on."
He took the white coat and I helped him put it on as he buttoned it up. Now that I could see it on him, it definitely gave him a commanding presence, but he looked like he'd be attending the fall ball. He looked in his full body mirror as he turned to his side trying to come to a conclusion of how he looked.
"So?" he asked as he looked down at me from his height of six feet. "How do I look?"
"You look like a prince, but you look like you're attending the fall ball. Let's try the blue one."I helped him take off the coat and I grabbed the blue one for him. As I helped him put it on he looked down at me.
"Yes?" I asked.
"You know you don't have to do this. I'm perfectly capable."
"It's my duty, Prince Lucas." I said and snickered, he hated when I wa so formal.
