Rose's Pov
"What's between you and Lucas?"
I had never expected this question to be thrown at me, I had of course, expected Kyle to ask me this but not from my other friends. I thought they didn't notice anything out of place when I talk with Lucas or was around him but when this question was asked, I was proven wrong.
I regretted choosing truth but I would have never thought he would ask me this question.
Darn you, Ryan.
I started coughing as soon as the words left his mouth but judging by the expression on each of my friends face, they were eager to know the answer too.
Kyle, who was seated beside me, patted my back when I started coughing and gave me a sympathetic smile, maybe because he knows how much I hate talking about Lucas or maybe because he got a slight clue of what had happened between Lucas and me.
"Um..." That was the only syllable which I uttered because i didn't know what to say or how to start.
There was nothing to hide anyway. He wasn't that big deal in my life back then and even now and it doesn't even hurt talking about him anymore but no matter what, there was that sting, that annoying pricking at your chest when you spill your 'close to secrets' thing with other people.
"There is noth-" I started to say but was cut off by Kyle's annoyed snort.
"Don't give us that 'there is nothing between us' crap. We all know something happened which you're not telling us." Kyle's eyes were intense and on me.
"First, it is not what you guys are thinking." I rolled my eyes after I said that. Knowing them they might be thinking all sorts of reasons of me being uncomfortable around Lucas. "And second, something did happened but then again, it's not exactly what you guys are thinking." I wanted them to not think that Lucas and I were a thing at one point of time or any of that sort of thing.
"And what were we thinking?" Hannah asked curiously.
"That Lucas and I were a thing or something as stupid as that." I shrugged.
"You guys were not then?" Amelia sounded disappointed to which Kyle gave her a 'are you serious' look. Amelia grinned sheepishly back at him.
"Not even close." I reprimanded.
"Then what's the story between you two?" Hannah asked sounding so interested.
Everyone's attention was on me and their ears ready to catch what I have to say next.
Kyle was stiff and he wasn't even facing me.
I realized it wasn't that big of a deal to hide this fact anymore and also It happened long back and I was over it.
The room was silent, no one uttered or made a noise to hear me out.
"He was my crush." I finally said it and when their urge me to elaborate more, I continued, "During my high school days. He was." I left it at that after which I took a swig from my beer, feeling the cool liquid go down my throat, somehow giving me a calming effect.
"So that's it..." Ryan raised an eyebrow.
"That's why you're so uncomfortable with him?" Hannah finished Ryan's sentence and her face clearly showed discontentment.
I chuckled at their reaction. "I already told you guys. It's not what you guys were thinking. Sorry to disappoint." I lifted my beer and made a cheers motion before gulping down the rest of the liquid.
"Well, why don't we go to the next person then." Amelia clapped her hands before spinning the bottle.
Kyle was unexpectedly quiet the whole time instead of throwing his witty comments so I glanced at him.
