6 - Gorgeous Boyfriend

“Okay, we need to get you to a club,” Edna pointed out as she crossed a leg over the other one and looked at me straight into the eyes.

She and Mary had gotten along quite well the past couple of days. Mary had come to visit me daily, since the term in university had finished already. I had promised to her that I would get back next term and she even made me promise it with a pinky promise, which meant I could not break the promise even if I wanted to.

Somehow, I felt like it was time for me to get back. I was already feeling much better. Getting away from everything had been my way of therapy. I had given it to myself and I was glad of its outcome. Sure, it had its shortcomings, but in overall, I was finally happy one again. I could see myself in the mirror and give myself a genuine smile.

“Yeah, let’s get drunk,” Mary agreed as she walked out of the stall she had been in, trying on a floral dress she was intending on buying. We were the last ones to leave the boutique. Lassie had left Edna the keys so that she would close up. After cleaning up, we were ready to leave. Except Mary decided she wanted to try on a dress at the last minute.

She giggled and bumped fists with Edna. I eyed her with wide eyes filled with surprise. Since when did my sweet Mary had become so…ghetto?

“What the hell happened to my best friend?” I questioned as I frowned at her. She rolled her eyes playfully at me and was about to answer when Edna intervened with an expected snarky comeback.

“She became cool, you could learn something from her,” Edna grunted as she got her hands to the side of her hips.

“Oh, shut up, Edna.”

“You shut up,” she shot back. I walked towards her and she pushed me. I gaped at her and was about to push her back when Mary intervened.

“Okay, girls, back to the topic. We need to go out.” as she said it, she finally paid for the dress and we were able to exit the boutique. Edna got the keys out of her pocket and closed up, finally. We stepped outside, immediately being embraced by the coldness of the night.

“I don’t know. I’m not in a partying mood,” I objected. And it was the truth. I just felt like curling up and drinking tea while watching a sappy movie that would make me cry for no apparent reason, except for my sad love life, of course.

“And that is exactly why we need to take you out,” Edna rebutted with a sly smirk.

“I don’t even trust you,” I rebutted.

“But you trust me,” Mary chirped in.

“Seriously, who are you?! You need to get on my side!” I whined. She and Edna exchanged a knowing look and then returned to me.

“You need to get laid. I am not telling you to fall in love because I know you had a rough patch not that long ago. But you need to get back on track!” Edna said. I could still not believe I was getting along with her, let alone that I had trusted her with what had happened to me in the past months. But she had gotten along so greatly with Mary that I could not help but think that there must be a reason for that. If Mary liked you, I approved you. It was as easy as that. And after a couple of shots of tequila at my new place, the idea did not seem half as a bad.

“Okay, what the hell?”

“What?”

“Since when do you care so much about me? Am I seeing you getting soft?”

“Never,” she growled and then flipped me the bird as she shoved me aside and walked up to Mary. I had to bite my bottom lip to avoid the smile from coming through because I knew if I let it show, Edna would beat me up until she made sure I feared her once again.

“You two are the most troubling girls I have ever met,” Mary sighed as she shook her head in disbelief at us.

“I’ll text you the details,” Edna told Mary as she craned her neck to se behind us. Mary only nodded in acknowledgement as she intertwined her arm with mine, seeking for warmth. “Gotta go girls, see you around!” Edna chirped and I gaped at her. Edna chirping? What the actual fuck? Was she not like the most rude and angry girl in town?!

Not around Mary, I suppose. Just that it was not because of Mary. I saw Edna could not take off her eyes from someone behind us. I frowned and I was sure Mary was doing the exact same thing form aside me.

Both of us turned around to see a very handsome bloke walking up to us. I had to bit my bottom lip to keep myself from gaping at him and drooling while Mary just slightly gasped. “He must be a model,” she breathed out as she leaned into me.

“Uh huh,” I agreed, unable to form complete thoughts in my mind and speaking out in sentences.

“Hey, babe,” Edna greeted as she walked up to him and pressed her lips to his, standing on tiptoes to meet him halfway.

“Hi, love.” His voice was deep, just making him in overall sexier than we originally thought. I felt my mouth watering as I saw a tattoo sneaking out from his neck, showing through where the shirt and coat ended and his hair ended, near the nape.

Both Mary and I sighed and then gaped at them then, not being able to contain our surprise. We did not even know Edna had a boyfriend! Let alone such a handsome and fine specimen.

“Bye girls,” she said once again and only then did he notice us. He waved at us before following behind her like a puppy following his owner. Well, she had the pants in the relationship. That was not a shocker.

Both Mary and I pouted as they walked away, upset that we did not even know his name. He surely was our platonic love from now on.

“And we’re both single,” I pointed out as we tilted our heads to see the happy couple walk away. See, that was the kind of lad I wanted in my life. Gorgeous and who was perfect for me.

“Maybe we need to be as authoritative as Edna?” Mary wondered and I only shrugged in response.

“Let’s go get some hot chocolate and mourn over our pathetic love lives,” I suggested and we tugged tighter at each other, still trying to recover from the shock of Edna’s incredibly sexy and smoking hot boyfriend.
