KARMA'S POV

"The Principal is beating up Umi," Hisako mumbled to herself but it was enough for me to hear.

"You're kidding right?" I even chuckled, thinking that it was one of their jokes but they were drop-dead serious.

My jaw dropped when the thought of it not being a joke finally sank in, how come she didn't told me about this? I'm her best friend, right?

When they saw the horrific look on my face, they started to panic. "Karma, please don't tell anyone, don't try to do anything, just keep your mouth sealed." It was Manato.

I clenched my fists, trying to calm myself down, my teeth grinding with each other as my eyebrow twitched in annoyance, "What do you mean about that? Umi's getting beaten up and you expect me to just sit back and watch? Why aren't you doing anything about it?"

Manato glared at me, "Do you think that we like to sit back and watch? She hasn't even mentioned anything about why she gets beaten up, all we could do right now is seal our mouths."

I sighed, I want to help her, I don't want her to be hurt. Just the thought of those hands touching her body sends shivers down my spine. I want to break his skull open.

"Karma, please," Hisako begged, "Pretend as if nothing happened,"

I didn't have any choice, "Okay, but don't expect me to just sit back and watch," Manato and Hisako sighed in disbelief, "Is there anything that we can do to help her? Let's tell the authorities--"

"You're out of your mind," Manato spat, "It would ruin everything for Umi--"

"What the hell is that gonna ruin? The authorities are gonna help her--"

"Do you think Umi is dumb enough for the Principal to just purposely beat her up?" He glared at me once again, "I don't know the story, but she must have a good reason for this."

'This is not a good reason at all, getting beaten up for something? You have got to be kidding me.'

Hisako sighed, must be getting enough of this, "Keeping her secret is the best thing we could do. Nothing else." she then looked at me right dead in the eyes, "You will do nothing."

I wanted to do something, to stop everything but all I could do right now is seal my mouths until I find the right time to confront her.

We also decided to exchange numbers so we could keep in touch, especially when they know something about this, about Umi getting beaten up to a pulp.

For Umi not to suspect anything, we talked to each other, clearing the tense atmosphere that we had earlier. We just talked about all sorts of things, including how I ended up in Class E and of course, midterms.

"I'm back!" Umi rushed to join us again, "Sorry I took long," she just smiled at us, Manato and Hisako also talked to her while me, my eyes were fixated on her.

'How could you even smile when you've gone through that?'

After eating, it also didn't take long for Manato and Hisako to go, they said that they needed to get home before it got dark.

As soon as they left, I turned to Umi and looked down at her, "You know, Hisako and Manato aren't that bad as I thought."

"So, you're getting along with them?" she giggled, "That's good then."
